There's a lot of media speculation that Ms Spears is losing the plot and is close to a nervous breakdown. Personally I think she's obviously a bit wobbly but is lashing out by behaving outrageously and trying to dispel the girls image that everyone has of her. Women often change their hairstyle after an emotional event such as a break up, so is the media right to speculate on her sanity when her ex is trying to gain custody of their sons?

She probably has lost it a bit but who can blame her? Another one hounded on a Princess Diana scale. The scrutiny over everything, especially her parenting skills would tip anyone over the edge. I think Britney is just typical of someone achieving fame and success at a young age, and the media intent on bringing that success into a sellable story. The pressures just become too much, and throw in a relationship problem and their has to be some kind of outlet. For some its drink, some drugs....so shes chopped her hair off, it doesnt mean shes lost it....and if she has well maybe its time to leave her alone?

I wish people would just leave her alone for a bit. Not a day goes by that she isn't slagged off in the media. Britney made a huge mistake with k-fed but I think she can turn it around. This whole thing with the hair cut is laughable, IT'S A HAIRCUT FFS!

This is the problem with Media and the so called celebrities, when they do something good it is hidden in some middle pages where you can't even find it. But as soon as something unusual is done it is Front page news and hounding starts.
As mugsey said its only a hair cut.

Cosseted in a lifestyle surrounded by lackys is not really living in the real world and the experiences you gain to deal with lifes problems. The media create these so-called celebs and just as easily knock them down in order to generate more public interest (and sales) - pity they don't realise they are being manipulated whilst they are earning their easy millions.

I have to disagree about her being talentless. You might not be a fan, but she has made a great career and from a young age. The fact she was picked to do so many things even as a youngster shows some talent. I don't think i've ever seen a 10/11 year old with a voice like she had.

Don't think it took too much talent to dress her up as a school girl, slap a load of makeup on her and shoot it on video - don't think too many blokes were listening to her voice.

The haircut suits her though - she always did look like a man in drag.

well she was in New York shows at 11, was picked out of thousands for the mickey mouse club to boot. I was talking about her performance on Starsearch, never heard a voice like that come from a 10 year old.

She's done a helluva lot more than just that video to be fair. She's not my cup of tea either but she must have a certain amount of talents to have survived in the industry as long as she already has.
I think Britney is obviously under a lot of stress but my guess is that the large part of it has been caused by close media intrusion into her life for so long. I know it's part and parcel of being famous but the media need to learn when to leave well alone, and speculating over her mental health isn't going to help her in a positive way.
