Title: Iran hostages

So Iran is still holding the British sailors but says they would speak to the UK and consider letting them go if the govt admit that they were in Iranian waters. Should the UK just say they were there to get the soldiers out or should they stick to their guns and this thing could drag out for a long time?

If they were in Iran's waters were Iran right to take them? Wouldn't a nice little go away have done? In the interview with the sailors they were quote clearly made to say certain things. Should the UN be putting more pressure on Iran?

This definatly needs some UN intervention. From the reports I've seen the the first location Iran gave for the ships whereabouts was still within Iraqi waters...so they then changed their minds and gave a new location.

Seems to me that Iran are just trying to test the waters here, see how far they can push.

We need to get these sailors home but a steady cautious approach is the answer, with the world watching I don't think they are in any danger. Diplomacy all the way here

If they were in Iranian water then there can be no arguement about whether they should be taken or not as I am sure that if a naval crew and vessile from an obviously hostile nation to your goodselves were to wander into your territorial waters you'd do the exact same.

A little bit of diplomacy and this situation should be solved rather quickly rather than empty threats being bandied about.

I thought it rather diplomatic of Ms Rice to decide to take a back seat on this issue. Spineless bitch. The UN should be sorting this out on our behalf- our troops were acting on their behalf.

I don't think Rica can be called spineless. To be honest whatever reaction the US had to this situation they would be wrong in many people's eyes. There seems to be no winning.

Let our people go, camel shaggers. Or nuke the fuckers.

Yes, I've had a few.

I have always thought it would be quite hard to shag a camel, you must have to use a small step ladder or something.

I think we should prove to the world that they were in Iraqi waters and embarass the twats into releasing the sailors and marines.
And the further the US stay away from this the better.

I like the way Iran are now using this to voice their wish for us to leave Iraq, I smell a set up here. Nice to see the UN start to get involved. Lets get this sorted out soon.

Well they are letting them go, as a gift to the UK.

How nice.
