Title: Matt
Description: Asked by Sav...

Your turn to do the whole... Ask Me A Question thing....!!
1) Recently revealed in White Pauls thread, you got engaged in New York last year. Obviously marriage is a big rite of passage in life, but what moment do you think has shaped you the most so far? Or are there any you can see in the future that will substatially change you as a person?
University, at school i was unconfident, quiet, picked on a fair bit and didn't give much back. Just kind of let it pass me by. Got to Uni and thought i need to be myself. Changed my attitude a bit, some may say for the worse, but generally just tried to have fun, got hurt by a lass i was seeing and thought never again. Turned me into or brought me out of my shell enough to become what i am today really.
2) As our resident Taxman, you are regularly mocked / asked "insider-info" questions. Is this the career you always thought you'd persue as a child? If not, what DID you want to do... and why arent you doing that now?
Hell no, never thought i'd be a Civil Servant, never really thought i'd be anything but someone in presenting though. In a roundabout way i have the job i want, the hours i want to do, using the "skills" i have but working in the wrong area, taxation is dull, it's boring as sin in fact and my head is full of the shite. I'd love to be doing presentations in another area of the business world, which area i don't know. One thing i do seem good at is telling other people how to make their businesses better....why can't i seem to figure out my own business idea i have no idea!!
3) You've said a couple of times that your family fostered children when you were younger. Do you think this is something you'd consider yourself, or recommend? Do you think you benefitted from it in any way? Or did you hate not being the centre of attention!? :lolanimate:
If you have patience then yes it's very worthwhile, very fulfilling, however, i don't. It did my head in sometimes and not just because i wasn't centre of attention either!! Many of the kids are troubled kids and they need constant attention (and watching) it did make me more tolerant towards kids to the point that they don't bother me quite as much as others do. We had some real horror cases and it makes you appreciate being in a family that actually cares for you.
4) With good reason, the Rebels hold you responsible for the introduction of Bondi Beach Bar... But what's your ideal night out? Or is it a night in? What music do you have on? Food? Dancing? Or intelligent conversation?
Depends on my mood and who i'm with. With the lads, out drinking, playing pool, ending up in Mojo's in Leeds drinking a shocking amount of cocktails after a day on the beer is always good. With the missus, either going out for a meal or staying in cooking one.
Out with the uni lasses (mainly seemed to have female friends at uni.... ) dancing like a pillock in a cheesy nightclub drinking lots of alcohol.
5) Not many people know you play basketball as well as a bit of football. Who are your sporting heroes? who do you admire, as well as who do you model yourself on?
Michael Jordon. The guy was superb. End of. Fact.
Other's i admire, hmmm Le Tissier. Should have had the England team built around him. Plus i'm about as lazy as him (plus about as fat before anyone else says it)
Darren Gough too. See below...
6) Just why is it that KBEES winds you up so much!? And why do you rise to the bait?!
He's a muppet. A fuckwit of grand proportions. I quite enjoy a wind up, i have to seeing as i do it to so many others but he's just ridiculous. I wouldn't mind so much if he actually engaged in conversation once in a while. I've upset a few people on here with what i've said but i've never backed away from a question or statement. He does. Pointless wankchop oxygen thief.
Give me mod status and the waste of planet space would be gone. Plus he reminds me of Jimbo
7) Tell us 5 random facts about yourself that we wouldnt know...
1. Used to play cricket up to age 19 and if i'd got off my lazy arse i might have been good.
2. I failed my English Literature GCSE (well i got a D and you needed a C to get into 6th form) so i had to resit.
3. I'm confirmed.
4. Even though i went to Uni i don't have a degree.
5. I could be a lifeguard as i have every other swimming qualification going and i got them all three years before the recommended age to get them (16 - i was 13.)
8) You pride yourself on good musical taste... but Surely there MUST be something in that collection you're embarrassed about... Here's the time to tell all... Or perhaps you've been to see a really embarrassing band/singer live?
No fair....!
I was asked to go see Blue in concert as my mate at work had a spare ticket. I went and i enjoyed it....
9) Everyone has a "Freebie" list a la FRIENDS - a list of 5 celebs your other half would allow you to sleep with, should the occasion arise... Who are yours, and why?
Angelina Jolie - Just because she's dirty as hell and stunningly gorgeous.
Charlize Theron - She blond, tall, has big boobs, she's just fit!
Jessica Alba - I'm kind of running out of reasons....
Naomi Campbell - As long as she doesn't speak
Monica Belucci - She's fit... but Brunette...
10) And finally, a literature question, as I know you can be a bit of a reader... What 5 books / works of literature do you think all children should have read by the age of 18?
Should never make someone read, don't like forcing people to do something unless they enjoy it, however, that idiot Brain who won Big Brother needs to read at least the Thomas the Tank engine books....
but if someone who wants to read asks me what they should read then....
1. Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit - counts as one book cos you have to read all of them
2. Harry Potter books - again they count as one cos they need all reading.
3. Any book by Ian Rankin - just think he's good.
4. Back to the series' theme - Dark Materials Series
5. Kes - can't remember who by though... I'm sure Rich knows though - the only book i enjoyed at school, even though it got me into trouble with my teacher as we were only meant to read a chapter at a time (fucking ridiculous rule) and i read it all in one night, then read it again two days later. And again a week after. Think i read it 10 times in total cos i kept having to remember what the rest of the class was reading. However as shown above i failed my GCSE in 5th form so had to resit, the teacher then gave us an option to pick a book to do our coursework on, so i picked one i liked, did my essay and got an A...

Good Q&A's as usual.
Kes was written by Barry Hines and the film was directed by Ken Loach.
