The ref today is Lee Mason who will be officiating his third Leeds game this season, the others being the 2-1 victories at Tranmere and at home to Swindon. He booked an incredible 15 players across those two games - disturbingly eleven of them were away players - pointing to the possiblility that he may be influenced by home crowds. Beckford was the recipient of two of those cards so it looks like that one match ban will be very soon. Mr Mason may not have the coolest of heads for a heated atmosphere despite his Premiership status, his only two red cards this season came in the Burnley v Preston derby.

Too many of Hartlepool's goals have been when they have been pressing for late winners or equalisers, and that has often done the business for them. In essence Leeds have to take their early chances and make the conference dodgers chase the game and hit them hard on the break with our front runners.

You should save these insights for the main board. They are worthy of their own post.

The ref, and linesmen, were crap today. The ref was whistle happy, and the linos were flag happy. Add in two hoofing teams, and the game isn't going to be great.
