Title: Whats your favourite takeaway.

Lee D'su - August 19, 2008 08:40 PM (GMT)
I am finding takeaway food to be quite bland lately. What is your favourite takeaway. It can be type or special meal you really enjoy.

305miles2EllandRd - August 19, 2008 09:48 PM (GMT)
for me it is pork chow mein.

cuppy - August 19, 2008 10:01 PM (GMT)
So hard to pick just one, I mean I love chinese, probably my fave, but then I love pizza too, specially pizza hut, but then I love a KTF, ooooh I can't just pick one.

If I have chinese though it usually has to incorporate sweet n sour chicken mmmmmmmmmm

Wickywhite - August 19, 2008 10:04 PM (GMT)
Millie will appreciate this but it's a burger from Schwartz Bros in Bath. Blue Cheese or Garlic mayonnaise. No one makes take away burgers to equal them. Yum.

Sav - August 19, 2008 10:52 PM (GMT)
Indian and I had a curry tonight ... must be accompanied by Peshwari Naan bread. A new Indian Restaurant has opened in town and wow, its pretty darn good. Still yet to travel to have the 'real thing' though.

Jonno - August 20, 2008 01:58 PM (GMT)
Curries are really shit out here. (Indian ones anyway)
Favourites would have to be Thai - Combination seafood Laksa, or Sweet Chilli Jam Combo.

Or they also have a penchant for Chargrilled Chicken shops her, so that's always a good shout. Roasted Chicken, stuffing, chips and veggies.

Spit Roasted, obviously.

Anyone can buy reggae reggae sauce, but we'd make it with home cooked chicken breast, not reshaped mass produced 'chicken'. EAT SHIT!!!!!!!

Milgod - August 21, 2008 08:57 AM (GMT)
I love Subway too! Although I only ever have an Italian BMT with olives, onions, salad (I like to stay fit and healthy) and tomatos. Topped off with a good dose of the red stuff of course.

Bay Rebel - August 21, 2008 12:25 PM (GMT)
Only been to subway once, there's a 24hr subway by the harbour a 3 minute walk away - I had Spicy Italian with honey something sauce, whatever it was it was very tasty

Fav take away is from the chinese - aromatic duck with the wraps and sauce
But love my curries too, Indian and Thai

Aye your probably right

Please note it's 3 minutes away 24hr and I've been once!

I've noticed a few too many of my friends that frequent subway put on weight and I'm convinced it's subways offerings that are mostly to blame

I've argued this point so often. Subway use the tagline Eat Fresh but people confuse it with Eat Healthly. Good marketing, and infact we've given up trying to compete. We're changing the direction of the business because people don't mind eating shit as long as it's cheap and "tasty".

You just have to look at what many eat at home - READY MEALS

It takes 10/15 mins to knock up something fresh healthy and very tasty

And yet there are so many that live off ready meals and probably don't know how to cook

Nope, it was me!
Col and I looked into a Subway franchise when I first moved to Wrexham simply because it was the line of business that we're in but I couldn't sell it to people. I've been in a few of their stores and never bought anything as none of it looks at all apppetising. Yes, it's all made 'freshly' in front of you, but in order for every sub to be the same in every store all the fillings are mass produced. And I would never serve my customers salad veg that wasn't freshly sliced.

Along similar lines to supermarkets. A mate of mine used to work for a local haulage company, they would bring fruit and veg produced (locally) in to main supermarket depots (100's of miles away) who would then sort and despatch it to nation-wide supermarkets using the same haulage companies - the whole process takes 4-5 days so therefore before the goods got to the shelf they are 7-10 days old - they altered the advertising from "Fresh" to "Local" produce with the definition of local being very flakey?

all a case of marketing i'm afraid.

VW golf vs skoda..same car, difference prices, difference perceptions...

Perception = reality

onloantodiv1 - August 21, 2008 05:47 PM (GMT)
i went to subway once, have never tried it before, not for any reason. It was the foulest thing ive ever eaten in my entire life, the crap in the north stand tastes better, really sickly stuff they stick in

Jonno - August 21, 2008 06:58 PM (GMT)
Subway is as good as what you pay for it to be honest. It is a lot healthier than other options and I think it's superb value for money. I don't really give a shit if the salad is pre-prepared and put on a lorry. The Spicy Italian with Ranch dressing and jalepeno's still tastes fookin lovely.

Mugsey - August 22, 2008 09:54 AM (GMT)
am actually getting sick of eating out tbh and need to start making em own meals again or send me mum on a cooking course or two :lolanimate:
