Description: Schools

Hi everyone

I am a frequent looker on this site, but not added anything yet. My family and I are off to Adelaide in October. We have visited Oz a couple of times, but never Adelaide.

Like many others we also want to live south of the city and are looking at Reynella/Woodcroft/Aberfoyle Park and have been told that Woodcroft College is very nice?????????? I know that it is private, but that the fees are very reasonable.

Can anyone tell me about Woodcroft College?

We also have an 18 yr old son (who is not too keen on coming with us!) but will be going to college (TAFE?) but so far I have been unable to get any firm information. I have been ont he TAFE/SATC sites and go round in circles. Anyone able to help us out there as well?

Many thanks
Bev

Have moved this to general discussion, you may get more replies there.

Hi Bev
Will you be on a PR visa? TAFE can be iffy if on SIR, some courses not available and others charged as international students (ie lots more $$$).

Can't help with Woodcroft College though....

hi

Yes we do have PR's. We had a reply from TAFE when they thought my son was an international student - they were very helpful then. Since I have told them that he will be a PR, I can't get any reply from them at all. I have sent off about 6 emails, but so far nothing. Very frustrating!

We are going to live at Woodcroft and the Realestate agent we saw was also from Woodcroft.
My point is that out of her 5 kids she has 3 at Woodcroft college and she says that it is lovely. There is a charge of course with it being private, but nothing like that in England.
She says that her kids are loving it there and learning lots.

Hope this helps a little.

I'm not sure how old you children are but we currently live in Woodcroft and both ours attend the state primary - Woodcroft Primary (surprisingly!!! :D ) I have to say that we are finding it a really good school. When we first arrived we lived in Paralowie and my youngest, Tom, had real problems there. When we moved down to Woodcroft we explained to the head teacher about the problems he was having and they really listened and took on board what we had told them. I can honestly say both Tom and our daughter, Laura, love going to school and have settled really well.

Hi Bev,

What is the age of your child intending to go to Woodcroft College?

There is a waiting list for that school, you might be lucky in getting a space depending on what year level your child enters in.

I dont have any children that attend there but it is a school with a good reputation.

Hi

My daughter will be 14 in September and due to start year 9 in January 2006. When I contacted Woodcroft College, they did not tell me there was a waiting list - just that I had to pay the $44 registration fee. My daughter Nikki has an interview on the 18th October, but we have now been advised by the College that there may not be a place for her - just wait and see!!! Just realised that we will have to look at other schools in the area - we hope to live in the Happy Valley/Reynella or Morphett Vale areas.

Bev
