Title: Conveyancer
Description: Any recommendations?

BrioneyandDavid - August 10, 2005 02:43 AM (GMT)
Hi all

Anyone got a conveyancer / solicitor to recommend for buying a house? If not, where's the best place to find one?

It's so wierd buying a house using a system you are unfamiliar with.

We have used John Webber, we bought in Mclaren Vale and he shared the building with our estate agent, he has been here since god was a lad so we figured the service would be good or you dont last long in a small town. Has proved very helpful and easy to deal with. Either look him up or send me a mail and I will dig his number out. He charged us about $300 from memory. Good luck

We used John Shelton - based in Flagstaff Hill - tel 8358 6066.

Very good job & $300. Whoever you use, the fees should be about that plus searches etc.

How true is that! we're just going through this at the moment and we can't get over how fast everything is moving! :68: :loopy:

We're using a firm at Hallett Cove by the way. So far so good. Very informative and the charge is about on par with what the others have said.

Tell me about it. I thought 10 weeks was quick in the UK to exchange contracts ... 30 days???? We only heard this week our offer was accepted, and we're expecting to get the keys a month later. For a people who spend half their lives reading the Advertiser and watching the footy, they can't half get a move on when they need to.

Are the fees for buying land broadly the same?

Hi guys

which area did you go for in the end? We have just recently had our offer accepted on the house we all viewed in Glenalta. Maybe we'll be neighbours... All very exciting stuff.

The conveyancers we've appointed are North East Conveyancers 2 minutes walk from our house in Norwood on Kensington Rd. # 8331 3622. Ian & Diane (Cat with Claws) used them a year ago and there were no problems. Their fees have recently gone up to $350 but we've agreed $300. Sure you would be able to wangle the same deal if you went for these guys.

Good luck with it all.

Julie

Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
So looks like not only is property more expensive in Henley Beach but so are all the associated costs.
I got qotes from 3 ,all recommended, ranged from $400 - $550.Don't expect you'll need any more info then.
Ho -hum
