Thanks for the replies. I'm surprised that none of you stayed the full 12 weeks. Is it because the accommodations were sub-par? Or because you bought or rented a place so quickly?
Given the short stays, I have hope that maybe something will be available when we are ready to leave.

We only stayed 2 weeks because we had by then decided where we wanted to live and managed to find a nice rental in that area.
Our accomodation was actually better than expected, so could have stayed longer but we arrived only 3 weeks before Christmas, so wanted to be in our own place (as such) by then mainly so the kids would be settled before Father Christmas visited. :D Also when the boat arrived, all our stuff could be delivered to the house we would be staying in for the next year. Save having to move twice in a short time.
