Title: Pools
Description: any companies recommeded?
Rippo - August 28, 2005 07:33 AM (GMT)
Ok....so i am sure I can't afford one...but just want to do a little research.... may be see if they do a "swim now...pay later deal....?"
We would like to build an inground pool at out new home. There is plenty of room, no easements and it is level...but i just don't know where to start. :loopy:
Can anyone recommend a company who perhaps can come out and do a site survey and give us some options as to how much a swimming pool would cost to have put in?
Has anyone had one put in? How much did it cost?
I look forward to hearing your views....
Ann

reckon a decent inground will be around 25k???..depends on what you go for..fencing,pavers,heated etc and filters and stuff!!!someone will probably have a more accurate figure i'm sure

WOOOOH 25K :sign68:
I will have to get a job b4 we can afford a pool.......even if they offered 4 yrs interest free credit it would still would be over $500 per month.....damn. Maybe we could just go for a spa for now! :crying:
In fact i think we could just about afford a paddling pool....still i can keep dreaming.

Hi Ann
We ordered our pool today from Freedom Pools (near TTP) excellent company so far. Never thought we would be able to afford it but stuck the on the mortgage $23,000 for a 10M Fibreglass with waterfall and spa jets included (oh well you only live once)! We couldn't afford to buy at the beach which was our dream when we came to Oz - installing a pool worked out cheaper!
Good luck
Judy

Hi Judy,
Unfortunately we have maxed out on our mortgage, but like you decided if we couldn't live by the sea then we would get a pool....
Perhaps we can come round and have a dip in yours!!
Seriously tho, what did yours include? heating? fencing?

Hi Ann
That price iincluded all filters, solar heating, lights in pool, jets in pool, council approval, digging out etc.
We don't need a special pool fence, just have to adpt the one we have and put restricters on windows etc.
You are quite welcome to dip in ours when its finished! We get our Citizenship in January 2006 so are planning a huge pool party at home - I'll let you know when we set a date!

No way...
A 10yr personal loan at 11.75% would be $355 a month.
Interest all up would be $17.
A 30yr home improvement loan (7.5%) would be $174 pm
Interest $37k

Pools.
Most people spend more time maintaining them, than using them.
Be careful when making this decision.
A lot of our friends who have lived here for a while have had them filled in..!
You may get four months use out of them per year and golly I sure wouldn't be using them between May and September heated or not.
Think about all those months of non-use and cleaning them daily..!!
You have all been warned..

this is not the case according to the ozzy blokes i work with, most modern pools now are pretty much maintinance free auto everything and they say there are probabley only 3 months a year they dont use theirs.
Not saying your wrong Sue as i know many have the same view as you, this is just what ive been told
If you have kids i think the effort will be well worth it.
you will prob. find that the people that think they are too much trouble are the people that dont have one
BTW ours is going in November ish
Lovely jubbly :D

Think it depends on each individual.
We had a pool for many many years in South Africa, it was never a hassle cleaning it and it always was sparkling.
Also some won't swim unless the weather and water are really hot and others will swim to keep warm

Well thanks for all your replies!
I think you have put me off having a pool...so I think I will just go for a spa, but keep an eye on heating costs... :68:
so anyone got any spa suggestions!!
Thanks
Ann
