I always prefer sitting at the back on a jumbo cos there's more room to walk about by the loos there if you want to stretch your legs. On the Airbus there's really no room anywhere, so go for the front row of economy - in the middle, by the bulkhead, they have heaps more leg room. Airbus seating is configured so you only have to climb over one person to go to the loo etc, but on a jumbo if you are on the side by the window (unless you are in the rear 2 or 3 rows), you will have to climb over 2 people to get out. One disadvantage of sitting at the rear is you usually get your meal last so might not get your choice - never bothers me though cos I'll eat just about anything.

Just make sure you get an inside seat,it get's bloody cold outside at 35000ft.

As Wizzywozza said at the back is best, more toilets and space to get up and walk around.

Have a good time.

That's just reminded me............when I flew back to Adelaide last year the plane was delayed a bit. Captain put out an announcement in the departure lounge at Heathrow that they were having trouble fitting everyone's luggage on the roof rack :sign68: :sign68: :sign68:

(It was Cathay!)

I like to try and bag the seat next to the emergency exit as there's stacks more room to stretch your legs out whilst sitting, but they only allocate these seats to able bodied adults. If we can't get those seats, we get the very back row as there's always a nice gap on the floor behind the seats to have a lie down, when there's no turbulence. :bouncy:

Have you looked at this http://www.airlinequality.com/ you can get views as to where to sit from those who have travelled with the various airlines and it gives you the legroom measurements etc. Well worth a look at.

Hi,

My step mum flies all the time and is an authority when it comes to flying. Always sit as far to the front as possible - it is more bumpy at the rear, and if there is turbulance you will feel it a lot more at the back.

Another reason for NOT sitting near the rear is the toilets. Nothing worse than trying to sleep with a constant queue of people bumping u as they wait for their turn to use the loo. Constantly banging doors and loos flushing. Trust me I have flown a lot.

Obviousy if u can get bulk head of emergency exits (not suitable for kids)then u have more leg room, which is always great.

Sit near the front, aisle or window seat if u r on your own. If u need the loo u will be glad of the walk to the toilets to stretch your legs.

Good luck,

Ann

Any where bar the wing seats, that way you get a view, I prefer the back of the plain, for reasons above, but also if it does crash I'm sure I read somewhere your more likely to survive. ;) :)

Last time I went in jumbo i had the two seats by the toilets at the back, loads of room there, but you are slightly away from the wall. The best seats I ever had was when i WAS REMOVED FROM THE WORST SEATS, DIRECTLY OPPOSITE THE LARGE SCREEN SO YOU COULDn'T SEE IT NEXT TO A CRYING BABY, i WASN'T VER Y HAPPY ESPECIALLy as it was a 24 hour flight. However I did get moved and I had the middle seats of the jumbo to myself while everyone were packed in place, that was great much easier to sleep in 4 seats. :)

Know exactly where you're coming from there Balls - we just flew back from the Gold Coast via Melbourne and were seated in the 'children's section' amongst what seemed like at least 100 screaming babies! Apparently it's Virgin Blue policy to seat all families with children in one section of the plane, but as my youngest is 8, I really didn't appreciate all the babies around me (no offense to anyone who HAS babies, but I for one am well pleased to be past that stage!)

Charlie

Lets hope she didnt read your last post or you're in trouble!

We have only been to ADL once, and we stayed at the Stamford Grand in Glenelg. It was a nice hotel in a fairly touristy location, hence just outside the hotel was a good selection of bars and restaurants. We will probably stay in one of their serviced apartments for the first few weeks when we eventually arrive.

Hi we booked singapore airlines and had the window seats back of plane, they narrow down to two seats here so had no one next to us, also meals served from the back and toilets pass the galery out of the way.
The back had lots of empty seats so we were able to lay accross middle rows of four, Stuard told us when they shut the doors you can move to another seat.

Great flight, good food and entertainment
Hope this helps

Di

Anywhere near where the black box is situated. :D

FredG - September 13, 2005 03:06 PM (GMT)
I'd have to agree with Harvey - in the 747's at least. Where the row of three became a row of two in the 777 we had on the inboung leg the seats were slightly offset so we had to kind of twist sideways to get at the dinner tray properly.

Hi
We flew with singapore airlines recently when validating our visa. i would fully recommend the back seats. They are in twos so you don't have to climb over people if you want the loo. As i found out :sigh: poor girl next to me was fast asleep.3/4 flights we got the seats we asked for.
