Title: SIR-Visa
Description: Baggage Allowance

trafalgar4 - November 8, 2005 10:14 AM (GMT)
I've just contacted Singapore Airlines and they have advised I only have a 20Kg (25Kg at a push) baggage allowance. This is due to having an SIR visa, which is classed as e temporary visa.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Has anyone overcome it?

Not sure that we'll need the full 40Kg each, but I want the peace of mind.

Any info welcome

Thanks

Andy

Andy, this has been done pretty recently a number of times. Its a damn shame that the search doesn't work.

I work at Manchester airport and have had this discussion with the Singapore reps several times.

Basically, as far as they are concerned, if you have bought a one way ticket and have a valid visa to remain and work in Australia they will allow you 40kgs each. In fact I am not sure you can travel on a one way ticket to most countries, without a legal right to remain in the country.

PM me your flight details and I'll speak to them on your behalf. I am only in work Wednesday and Thursday this week. If you miss me I am not back until the first week in December.

You could look at the posts that I have contributed to.
