Just a tip for those of you who are currently learning to drive in the UK and intend to continue to have driving lessons in Oz, please please please hang onto your provisional licence to prove you have experience. I recently passed my driving test here in Oz (thanks JulieW for passing on instructor's name) but when I went to change over to P Plates they wouldn't let me because I only had my Oz learner's licence for 4 mths. I explained I'd had my UK provisional for ages (years actually) but because I didn't have it with and can't find it - think I binned it - I have to wait another 2 mths, although I have contacted the DVLA to see if they can provide details of my driving record!
