I know there are size differences over here, does anyone know the equivelant to the uk sizes:

Hi - I haven't bought loads of clothes here, but from what I have bought I'd say that the womens' sizes are all exactly the same (very easy). Having said that, for the men, its something different (had to really do a bit of research to buy my hubby clothes as they work in CMs here and not inches).

Although the size numbers are the same, the actual sizes can differ as there is no uniform policy on what constitutes a size here and diiferent manufacturers/shops have different standards.

(Whick could explain why my clothes are from sie 10 to 16)

Womens shoes are 2 sizes bigger for the same size in the UK. For example a UK 5 is a n Aus 7.

Bras are measured in size e.g. 12, 14 etc and not inches. A 12D is also a 14C which is also a 16B.

Millers clothes (and Tempe their other store) are always on the big size - buy 2 sizes smaller, Target are a little on the large side exept the Hot Options range, the stores like MCL and Valley Girl are smaller sizings.

It's a bit hit 'n' miss though. I just love my Jaqui E pants which say they are a size 10!

Sad to say Mandy, the sizes here are stepped one different from UK - I also was buying the same size only to discover, sadly, that meant I had actually gone up a dress size :68:

EG size 12 in UK = size 10 here, size 14 in UK = 12 here etc....

I also agree with what Wizzy says, that there doesn't seem to be much uniformity of size either :loopy:

I agree with Elaine I was chuffed to find out my new size 10 clothes were really loose when I thought I'd got bigger!! I'd moved up a size .. :68:

It will be coming off VERY soon....

That has really depressed me now as one of my pairs of jeans is a size 14 :o . Admittedly, they're pretty baggy, but still <_< I so wanted to believe that all the exercise was paying off :lol: :doh:

Same here I have found that the sizes are generally one size smaller so I went to a size 10 for everything but now I'm in size 14 stuff which is very very worrying! And don't even go into bra sizes as I nearly fell down and had a heart attack when I kept trying all the bras on and my mate kept saying you'll have to go bigger and bigger and BIGGER!!!

Shoes confused me at the start but I tend to go for a size 7 first then a size 8 and I was always a size 5 in the UK....so generally what WW has said.

Shopping for clothes is a nightmare. I hate having to go up a size in clothes but I must admit I did fit in the same size clothes when I went back to UK a couple of years ago so it differs between shops I think.

As for shoes well - :doh: It appears that there is no exact match for a size 5. Is it a 7 or a 7.5 or even an 8 - I don't think the shops that sell shoes know either. Yet if I was to buy shoes over the internet, I know the size 5 pair of shoes will fit like a glove! :(

and yet men's shoe sizes are the same as the UK sizes - go figure....
