Title: Take home pay
Description: Where can I find out how much
Dunc&Sam - January 28, 2006 11:00 PM (GMT)
I am sorry but I have been looking through the FAQ section and whilst I can find plenty of reference to what salary you can expect I can't see anything which will give me an indication of how much I can expect to take home after the inevitable.
I don't feel the need to state my salary for someone else to give me a figure and everyone to see what I have been offered so a pointer to a link would be great.
Thank you.

Tax department's link
Australian Tax Office might be a good place to start.
I just worked out stoppages--adding an extra 2% to be sure- and rounded it up to 30% of gross wage. That way, I know we'll have extra/enough to pay everything and still live a life!!

Perhaps a quick PM to Dougie on this site may give a more definitve answer to your questions as tax depends on so many different variables like claiming for dependant spouse and children and having a tax free threshold etc.

Also, you need to check whether the Super contributions are included or not in the figure stated - that makes a big difference when comparing salaries. I think most are stated without, but the odd one is inclusive which makes it look much better when you'd have less to take home <_<

Thank you all for that.
Dougie, that is a fantastic link and a major help. Thank You.

expect to deduct about 18% from your gross to arrive at your take home pay.
This is how mine works out anyway ;) |
Get me a job where you are working please. 18% sounds superb :bouncy:
