Hi Debs

if it's any help - for my visa (spouse) all photocopies had to be certified!

I phoned around all local solicitors in the yellow pages to ask whether they would certify and how much it would cost for a 'job' lot. Individual copies cost £5.00 each here!

Managed to get 13 done for £20.

Jules :o

We just got his birth certificate and passport certified but then we didn't have half the paperwork that you have collected. The letters from employers etc were just sent and not certified but until I get it back  I can't tell you if it does or doesn't matter.

Well done for gathering so much info together though Debs, that's half the battle.

Sasha :)

hi debs, we photocopied everything, 3 times and got them all certified so didnt have to go back again, we had them done at local solicitors, cost £79 i think, must have been 150 copies for the poor man to sign. easy money i say,

We sent cheque to agent for there sols services about £80 I think it covers everything and anything that has to be certified through the whole process.
So all we had to do was send stuff off to them.

Hi Debs

We got everything certified by solicitor including copy of passport but not birth certificate. Agent didn't request this. Charged us £1 per copy.

With the Stat Declaration it has to be signed in front of solicitor and Russell had to swear on the bible. She did ask him if he minded or not!

We are still waiting 7 weeks tomorrow not like Sasha I am counting!!!

hi debs
nellys partner here. tra can be a very time consuming exersice. they will recognize your partners past woek experience. but it can involve quite a lot of paperwork.i had to go through the same process. firstly i would say gather as much references from past and present employers.about the work carried out for how long, and what responsibilities your partner had on the job . i dont know what job hes in .so it hard to give you a deffinite answer.also any customer references for work he may have carried out and if it was to a government standard. if he is a trades man , what was is financial position as far as sub-contracting,self employed etc.believe me they want to know everything they will want your tax records from the uk your self employment status, have you been self employed for at least five years.etc its endless. but perciverence definately pays off.we found that beuracracy in the uk can very nagative and you spend half your time dealing with jobsworths who just wont sign a damn thing unless its got the primeministers stamp on it . so we did it all from oz . much easier and you dont get the hassle.better if you can find a employment sponser before you come perhaps?? there are so many way to do it and the government dont tell you a damn thing . but i will say one thing about australia . is that if your good at what you do and you can put up with the bullshit forms from the immigratoin dept. they will give you a fair go!!its the ozzy way , regardless of qualifications or not . good luck.
p.s. if you can afford it use a australian migration lawyer from the state in which you intend to live.makes life a lot easier as they all know each other down at the dept.(immigration).

Thanks for all your replies guys :cool shake:

Nelly's partner (dont know your name sorry) hubby is in carpentry/joinery trade he was self employed for nearly 3 years we have kept all his accounts e.t.c so that has helped and also we have had no problems getting references of previouse clients or ex employers as we have kept in touch with them all.

he didnt do any sub contracting so we have no worries there and he was a sole trader so he didnt have any workers which makes it a lot easier. he now works for an employer so not sure how to go about getting a reference of them thats our only problem as we can see. we have done all the stat decs for self employed and for the business that isnt trading no more (they are about 6 pages long explaing all tools used and how he did the jobs in hand) im sending a copy of his old p60 so to proove that he did work there.

as for tax records would a copy of his tax returns do ???? the one that tells you how much to pay and what date ???? we have copied his accounts so thats a good help.
never thought of a sponser how would we do this just email companies and ask them to sponor us ??? :sign20: its a bit cheeky tho dont you think or are they used to it

sorry for more questions but thanks again for all your replies
