Hi what is the work situation really like for drivers of heavy good vehicles, fork truck drivers and the averages wages?
Hoping to visit Adelaide soon with a view to getting a work visa - and bringing the family over once I am sorted out with accommodation and a job.
Any advice would be helpful. :bouncy:
Hi Joe
If my memory serves me right, I think there's a link in FAQ to a site with average wages for jobs?

Plenty of work for drivers, but you would have to prove, how many years experience you have had,as most companys will not touch any one under 25. The transport industry is, i imagine very different from the European scene, yes you get Volvo, scania, merc,s iveco, but there is a lot of American iron, kenworth, ford [sterling]mack, peterbilt, etc road ranger transmissions being popular, the casual trailer drivers ,{semi] at our place average $19 an hr full timers on about $17, most inter state drivers are paid, kilometer rate, i think varies between , 23/27 cents a kilo, so a trip to melb x Adelaide and return {1800km} would net you ,do the math ,about $500bucks, do two a week and you have ,a grand. But its all go....mm
