Description: Just wondering....
ToonWilliams - March 7, 2006 01:48 PM (GMT)
There seem to be so many different types of visas people are trying to obtain, we are going for the 136 MODL, ask me any question about it and I think I know the answer, but when people speak about theirs I have NO idea, what type of visa it is, just wondered as alot of experts on here, what are all the others??
ie, 138,139, vitessess (I think that is one??), 457, stni??
Just wanted very brief overview!! So when reading threads understand which visa they trying to get!!

We're going for a 139. It's a skilled designated area sponsored visa. Vetassess is a skills assessment agency.
Cheers

Ours is a 137.
Basically the same as a 136 only it has a State nomination,(STNI) plug in.

Hi There
I know how confusing it gets, :what?: but believe me when you get to read loads of posts every day you get to know a few anyway.
Ours is a Subclass 100 visa (spouce visa) So I am the only applicant in the family, both wife and daughter have dual nationality.
All is in place for a new life Apart from the house sale

Visas are issued under Classes, with Subclasses within each Class. So ... Class BN is the Skilled Independent visa class, within which are subclass numbers 136 and 137 (Skilled Independent, and Skilled - State Territory Nominated Independent).
Class BQ is Skilled Australian Sponsored, within which are subclass numbers 138 and 139.
When you make an application for a visa you do so under a visa CLASS - the DIMA case officer has to assess you against all subclasses within the class under which you applied. This means if you apply for a BN, subclass 136 visa you can change the application to a 137 visa if you secure a State Nomination, and vice versa. However, you can't move from an application for a BQ, subclass 138 (say) to a BN subclass 136 or 137.
Hope that makes sense!
