Anyone know if there are any websites where you can compare the various energy suppliers such as www.uswitch.com
Hi Marco not sure if there is but i know there regulated here. I have compared a bill against someone who uses a different company and the charges are the same. I could be wrong though (wont be the first time lol)

Hey there. Companies like AGL are on a Government Regulated Tariff (GRT) which means the Governement tells them what the maximum is they can charge. They chose to charge 100% of the GRT.
Other companies are on whats called a Market Based Tariff (MBT). Which means they can charge exactly what they want. So of course they charge less. AGL also has a MBT but you don't save that much money.
Here is how much money you would save annually with different suppliers using 1500KwH per quarter and the name of the plan. These figures come from www.escosa.sa.gov.au.
Country Energy Premium $54
Energy Australia RAA Saver $85
AGL Big 5 $55
Origin Home Choice $56
South Australia Electrcity $86
TRUenergy at Home $107
TRUenergy is what we use at home. When we got our first TRU bill it was nearly $75 cheaper than the AGL bill for the same period last year. With almost exactly the same usage. That was with an additional bonus of $25 because it was our first bill with them.
Anyways hope this helps

G'day Marco,
There are a couple of interesting websites on Energy and Comparisons for cost. Have a quick squizz at the first one it explains exactly how GR and MB Tariffs work and a bit more about problem solving and contract issues with suppliers.
http://www.energy.sa.gov.au/home/competition/faq.htmThen there is a calculator, just say yes to all the disclaimers and it will ask you a few questions about your power consumption rates and then provide you with a listing of who charges what based on the info you have entered. Use your UK Bills information to give an indication of usage.

Thanks for the info guys.
Helpful as ever.
