HI,
Anyone have any opinions on Greenacres? I don't want to start a 'war' about the place but some advice would be lovely. We saw a great place to live there yesterday but have heard conflicting advice from colleagues so far, so we are now confused!!! The place is by the army barracks, don't know if this makes a difference.
Also, how far up Prospect Road is 'ok' area?? We looked at a place on there today, but again have heard some interesting opinions on that too!
Thanks guys, Help needed, we're moving soon!

Hi,
We lived in nearby Klemzig for 5 weeks when we first arrived in OAA. Greenacres was our nearest set of shops and facilities. Certainly handy for the shops, great library with free internet access, lots of cheap warehouses type shops and close to the CBD. Not far to catch the AutoBahn from there into CBD or to TTP (Tea Tree Plaza - a large shopping mall).
Personally I would expect it to be quite cheap to buy there even though it is close to the CBD. I would say it was a pretty run down area, like its neighbour Klemzig. That's not to say it might not be up and coming though. My advice (for what it is worth!!) is , if you want to be nearer the city - check out Norwood, or some of the western suburbs, which are also close to the sea. Also some of the suburbs off Goodwood Road area are very nice e.g. Colonel Light Gardens. If you specifically are interested in the NE of the city, I would say, look a bit further out, especially towards the foothills e.g. Highbury and Athelstone.
HTH,
Claire

IMHO anywhere to the south of Regency Road intersection of Prospect Road would be classed as an okay, if not more of an affluent and leafy area. Blocks are of a generous size and more older stone homes.
Some of the areas past the Regency Road intersection aren't that bad but the further you get out the more heavily interspersed with commercial and light industrial businesses. There is quite a lot of council housing around Kilburn. The areas are slowly being redeveloped in areas further along Prospect Road
Personaly I wouldn't go to Greenacres.
Seen and heard a few 'not' so good things!

Thanks guys,
Some good ideas coming, please keep helping if you have an opinion...even PM me if you are concerned about upsetting others etc.
We are so undecided. Prefer the one at Greenacres as it had land and fruit trees in the garden etc. but then so did the one just North of the Regency Road in Prospect, that one was on the main road which is my only concern .......security...is it an issue? They had just a put a new amazing kitchen in....which is swaying me a bit! But then the Greenacres was great...
You see I am confused!!!! :help:
