Just to let you all know, we emailed Brian at aussiecar@chariot.net.au and got an instant overnight answer on car hire for the two weeks / 13 days we asked him to quote for.......will copy & paste it........

Goodmorning Keith and Sharon...thanks for your interest....we pick up airport no charge...second hand small car $25..$27/day brand new Hyundai 2door Getz $33/day standard ins excess $1250 reduce to $350 cost $12/day..med family car $39/day....but you can swap if car not suitable Regards Brian you pay for petrol no other fees....

Hope this gives an idea on prices for you all wanting to hire a car when you get to Adelaide. :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

Ahem.....we bought two cars from him shortly after we arrived, and he also ended up lending us a fridge and a lounge suite....7 years ago

Having just used Brian to both buy a car and rent I can honestly recommend him unreservedly - one of the top blokes on this planet!
Brian and his wife picked us up from the airport at 8.00 on a Sun morning, with both the rental car and a minibus for all the luggage. He was to just drop us to our holiday appartments (Frogmore, West Beach) but when we arrived the appartment was not ready as had been agreed and we were more or less told to sit on the beach until 11 - 2 hours in the sun without even a bottle of water between us after a sleepless flight from Singapore! Brian came to the rescue, after apologising at great length for such a poor welcome to Australia, he took us up to his home for the morning, made us tea and toast and let anyone who needed it use the shower - not the sort of service you expect when renting a car!
The moral of this tale - if you are planning on using the Frogmore do think carefully, if you are planning on renting a car don't think of using anyone other than Brian!

I tried to use Brian recently, but he doesnt do manual cars and I dont drive automatics.

Used Koala Car Rentals at very short notice and got very good service.

Andy, I think we beat you with Brian and Barb at aussie car rentals!!! His cars are cheap but if you have just moved here and need something until you buy one then he is great, he will look after you!

Would just like to add our recommendation to this thread.

We used the Meet and Greet Service but Ali came and picked us up from our rental to do the paperwork etc free of charge.

We had booked the car for 2 weeks but in the end only needed it for one so Brian gave us a refund - no penalty charges.

Would definately recommend them.

Would also highly recommend Brian. Not the smartest cars, but best for value and service.
We arrived Feb 2006, and rented a car for 2 weeks, and Brian lent us crockery and cutlery from his office kitchen because we had none due to our furniture being delayed enroute. He didn't know us from Adam.
Our friends also rented from him. He invited them back to his house for the day, wife, and 4 kids - they had a great time.
