Hi, all

Has anyone been offered a teaching post by the SA Education Authority yet?

Thank you ever so much in advance.

Hi, Jaxowen

What are the chances of securing some TRT work in metropolitan state schools or even a long term teaching contract in the countryside? I am beginning to worry whether I would be able to secure twelve months worth of work to satisfy the PR requirement. Any insights or advice are very much appreciated.

hello morocco

I to am a teacher and have the same worries. Im travelling over on my own so not too worried where I end up..teaching that is..Jaxowen sent me some information about applying for work. seems there is some supply work about but not sure how much.

You do have to have a notice to teach from the sa ed dept..which is granted after you have done a couple of courses..ie child protection and first aid course which have to be completed in SA.

I had applied directly to the SA ed for work and was told I would be put into the computer when jobs arose...however i recieved a letter asking for the child protection and first aid certificate to be forwarded....!!!! rather difficult as im still in in the uk.

however i did have a message informing me that you can apply directly to private schools without having the mandotry notice.

hope this helps..

(Jaxowen hope you get a job soon good luck :yeehah: )

regards

lolly

SA does need teachers, however not in the Adelaide area. If you were to look elsewhere in SA north of Adelaide - Pt Augusta, Whyalla, Pt Pirie etc your chances of securing a full time permanent post increase by a magnitude usually associated with astronomy and celestial physics.

If you choose to move to the Adelaide area you will probably be consigned to TRT'ing. We know teachers who are still TRT'ing after 7 or 8 years in the system and have been unable to secure a permanent position. Whether this fulfils the criteria of 12 months work is debateable.

You may get lucky. Anywhere outside the black area and you should be ok.user posted image
