I remember reading a while back a thread about people taking pets back to the UK and what the procedures are - I can't find it anywhere so wondered if anyone has the link to either the original thread or to a website with all the info. (I have checked in FAQ but it all seems to be about getting pets over here).
Cheers,
Jo :)
Yes I remember the thread Jo - but don't know where it might be now. Sorry
Boosters up to date, Microchip, Rabies jab, blood test to confirm clear (taken two weeks after the jab), allow 6 months between the date of the clear blood test (not the jab) and entry to the U.K to avoid quarantine.
I think that's roughly about it.

:D :D
Your dog will also probably have to be treated for ticks and worms 24-48hrs before it arrives in the UK by an official vet in Australia, usually someone in quarantine kennels.
You may also want to check on its heart worm status before it arrives in the UK as that's not something we british vets know a heck of a lot about, so if your dog is infected and you're not using heartworm treatment because you're in the UK then it may go on to develop fatal heart disease. You could continue to use a regular worm product like stronghold or milbemax/advocate etc when in the UK and should be OK tho, but a difil blood test and snap heartworm test should prove your dog clear of infection before it arrives in the UK and will be cheaper done here in Adelaide than in the UK!
that's would I would rec but only been a vet in Aus for 4dys so far!

Here's the official PETS site
http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/quarantine...ures/owners.htmVC's addition re preflight treatment is important - but you will probably find that this will be done by your shipping agents (assuming you are using one).
