Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if car insurance companies take into consideration your no claims bonus from the U.K.
Or do we have to start from scratch again
Cheers

Ours did (we're with SGIC), and didn't even ask for proof - though others do ask for proof, so best to bring it in your hand luggage when you come :)

I've just done a new car insurance policy through the RAA and they insist on proof. I had let my insurance lapse for various reasons, and now have to wait 5 years to get Rating One again. If I could have proved I had had Rating One in the last 18 months it would have been ok, but anything over that and it's back to square one.

Can't currently prove my no claims bonus...as we are still waiting for Directline to send me a proof of no claims letter.
This means I'm on the highest level of insurance group 6 i think.....however this is only about £20 a month more than I was paying in the UK with full no claims bonus..
Directline will not give a proof of no claims if you still have a current policy with them ( 10 days to cancel)..

Hi
Ours did for Martin as he was fully comp in UK, but because I only had 3rd party, fire and theft, they wouldn't recognise mine.

Just remember to keep your proof safe - 'cos if you ever need to claim I'm sure they will want to see it.
I'll be scanning important documents and keeping copies on my PC.

Hi there,
justy done our car insurance today with a company called Budget Direct. Took into consideration the 8yrs no claims notice I brought with us from my husbands last insurance, and the price was less than what I would of paid for only myself in the UK.
