It's to the North East, comes under Tea Tree Gully Council. Excellent local facilities at Tea Tree Plaza (shops, supermarkets, cinema, library etc) plus IMO the best outdoor pool complex in Adelaide. Lots of sports facilities, good transport links (the fantastic O-Bahn into City), easy reach of Barossa (about 30-45 mins), City (about 20-30 minutes), beaches (about 30-45 minutes), Golden Grove shopping centre (shops, bowling alley etc) about 10 minutes tops. Lots of trees, playing fields, reserves.

I take the dog to council-run training classes at Ridgehaven, it seems very nice round there. Tennis courts and sports fields, as well as a 'dog-park' with jumps, obstacles and doggy activities! Plenty of schools, primary and high, in the area. Anything you read about Modbury, Hope Valley, Tea Tree Gully, Fairview Park, St Agnes, and Golden Grove pretty much applies to Ridgehaven, so if you have a look on the FAQ section on here, you may find out more about pre-schools/kindies etc.

There's quite a few of us dotted around the North East now, but we keep quiet about it usually as those 'southerner's' usually lump anything North into the 'don't go there' category!!!!!

You're welcome to drop in for a coffee when you're exporing the area!

Thank you Catwithclaws, you have confirmed my suspicion regarding no replies! Why do they say that? And why does everyone seem to go to the south, is there such a big difference.
I dont suppose you have the names of any primaryschools in Ridgehaven do you and also would you know of any cheap b&bs where my hubby can stay when he arrives?
Thanks again
Leanne

Sorry Leanne I can't help with B&B's but with regards to schools there is only the one Primary School in Ridgehaven that I know of, think I posted a link to it in my last reply to you.

Other area's adjoining Ridgehaven would be Banksia Park, Redwood Park, Modbury Heights, Surrey Downs, Fairview Park and Wynn Vale. Armed with these suburbs it may be a good idea to look at those names under the alphabetical listing of the following link. It should then provide you with more details on the schools. The FAQ section of this board could also give you some more insight.

All the best with your research.

I can't add anything else to what has been said about Rigdehaven Catwithclaws has done a good job at explaining.

We live in Fairview Park which i can recommend as a great place to live, a good area to live with kids and very friendly.

Hi Leanne,

Where will 'hubby' be working? We live in Greenwith (NE), previously in Golden Grove. Both suburbs are clean, modern and quiet. Greenwith is a bit cheaper than GG, not sure why as they merge to one big suburb anyway.

Greenwith and Golden Grove are about a 7 min drive from Ridgehaven.

Personally, I wouldn't live in Ridgehaven as my 'good lady' would only have to walk over the road to get to Tea Tree Plaza

I think there is a difference between 'the North', and 'the North-East'. There is definitely nothing wrong with the north-eastern suburbs. They are probably more established than some of the southern suburbs, but there are some very nice areas, and as CatWithClaws has so ably pointed out, lots of facilities and ease of getting into the City, via the O'bahn, which is a really lovely ride on a good day. In fact, it would be something good for the 'Southerners' to do one day, to catch the O'bahn out to Tea Tree Plaza, do some shopping or go to a movie, or whatever, and then go back into the city on the O'bahn.

I'm not a Brit, so I have no idea why everyone heads south. Maybe the North-Easterners shouldn't keep so 'quiet' about it, as there is no shame in being in the North-East! (I'm not actually one of them, as I live in the East, but I used to live in Hope Valley, and had no issues with it. Also taught at Modbury West Primary and had no problems.)

Hi - I too live in the NE suburbs and still love it. It's a great area for kids.
I completely agree that the Northern surburbs are completely different from NE.

With regards to Ridgehaven.... well I personally wouldn't live there. It is too close to Modbury Triangle where the shops are. And whilst Tea Tree Plaza is a great place to shop - there is a lot of antisocial problems with teenagers around that area and the O'Bahn, including robberies and similar.

My vets is at Ridgehaven, and yes there is a great dogpark / dog school, and a fantastic water park where we practically lived during the summer. So a good place to visit - but nnot for me to live.

Golden Grove and the surrounding suburbs are lovely. Very modern with lots of local facilities for young families.

You need to come and look for yourself. I was initailly one of the Hallet Cove fan club - when in the UK - but once in Oz I took a look and decided it wasn't for me - dispite being certain I would love it!! Just keep an open mind.

Have a look on the department of education website

http://www.decs.sa.gov.au

This site will give you access to all the websites of all the schools in the areas you want to look at.

When we first came we looked at a house on Milne Road, Ridgehaven. We also looked at the school. It looks like an old school, lots of pebble dash and concrete, however it was a nice school and they have a dental clinic for the kids on site.

There is another school a little further along Milne Road but I can't remember what its called now. I go passed it every week, I'll have a look next time and PM you.

Its a nice area as Di and Ann have said. We really like it, I would look at Redwood Park which is close by but not so near the main roads. My kids go to Modbury West where True Blue used to teach and its a nice school.
