Title: Rental furniture
Julia - June 26, 2004 10:33 AM (GMT)
I am sure I have seen threads on this which I shall go a-searching for next, but I was wondering about furniture rental in the period between our arrival and our furniture's arrival. Are there companies that loan furniture short-term? Or do we have an AdelaideBrits rental service started up by some entrepreneurial ex-pats??!?!

Funny you shoiuld mention that Julia!! ... we were going to do this a while back when we were setting up a welcome support group (which is on hold coz all other members are either working or gone back to UK!!) only have a new fridge, washing machine, one double bed, large tv cabinet, and two single beds right now...but if anyone wants to rent them out they are welcome to contact me.
As for companies doing it. I only know of Radio Rentals. They are advertising rental furniture, but i= =think you have to have it for 12mths

Thanks for that PP - I may take you up on those beds if they are still available in November! I will check out Radio Rentals and do a general search while I'm at it.

I have several bags of bedding for emergency use - quilt covers, sheets (fitted and flat), pillow cases, in all sizes, a couple of old but useable vacuum cleaners and a clapped out old sofa bed for emergencies. Add that to the list Nicki.

See link below.
I found a package for 2 people with basic furniture was about $175.00 per week if you rent for three months and then you can add bits and pieces on like extra beds and linen and so on.
They do the rentals from 1 week onwards and you will find places like this in most major cities.
There is apparently a showroom in adelaide so I presume you can go and check out the quality - although it looks great from the online catalogue.
If you do decide to use a company like this give us some feedback as we may need to rent furniture for a while too.

Thanks for that Goochco - just about to post the same link myself! Thought they looked pretty good - if anyone's passing by their showroom in Norwood, could you have a nose around for me?!

$175!!!!!!??? :sign68: geeez..you can rent a whole apartment for that price!!! ....$600pm?

Would only be short-term though, PP - and for $175 you get furniture for the whole house. If you only want a few beds and a fridge would be much cheaper. Not as cheap and VFM as Adelaide Brits Furniture-r-Us of course! :D
