Keith, would this work if I wanted to buy a simcard for my existing phone in Oz?
If so can you buy pay as you go simcards in Oz? Just thinking in advance for the reccie visit!

As an alternative can I use my existing simcard and just change my network provider like I did when I was in Hong Kong and China ?

You can definitely buy a new simcard here and put it into an unlocked phone. The simcard itself is free - you pay $30 and get $30 of calls with it (Vodafone pay as you go is my own that I'm familiar with). I have no idea whether you can transfer your existing one. I regularly transfer work phones from Telstra to Optus but no idea how an overseas one would be regarded?

What would you gain? Are you hoping to keep the same no? Ours are in the format 0xxx xxx xxx

I can get new numbers put on the same sim card, or the same number put on a new simcard, when I have to - but that's with a friendly customer rep at Optus that wants to keep the business of the company I work for :lol:
