Title: Good catteries in Adelaide?

mandymary - May 6, 2006 02:15 PM (GMT)
Hi!

We are coming over in September and, as yet, haven't found anywhere to live. Our cat is due to arrive shortly after us (after quarantine in Melbourne) and, if we haven't found a place by that time, the poor thing will need to go into a cattery in Adelaide until we find a pet-friendly rental. Does anyone know of any good catteries in Adelaide?

While we're on the subject - does anyone know of any good, pet friendly places to rent in Adelaide and suburbs?!!!

Any info is much appreciated - thanks!

Amanda

G'day Amanda,

Sorry can't help wth cat friendly property rentals but here is a listing from the local yellow pages for cat boarding establishments including websites. It is difficult to reccommend any as it would depend on what area of Adelaide you were planning on living but anyway this link is a good place to start looking at what is available across the metropolitan area

Can I ask about their fees, Stevo? We may be in the same position and it would be great to have an idea of costs if you happen to know them of hand.
Thanks,

It was $11.50 a day last year, long term might be cheaper.

Have just checked out the RSPCA site for you. They are located at Lonsdale (just down from Hallett Cove) and they have just recently updated their cat boarding facilities. They charge $9.50 per day for non- RSPCA members and $7.50 per day if you are a member.

We got our kitten from there and the facilities seem very modern and clean but as yet haven't had need of the cattery.

Thanks very much for all your replies! It's a comfort to know that there are recommended places - I feel bad that she may have to go into a cattery after the long journey and 30 days quarantine, but there's no other way round it.

Thanks again!

Forgot to add, that the cattery has an open feel to it. The cats are all together in an outside/inside enclosure, which is in their garden. In the enclosure are tree branches, hidy holes, heaps of sleeping areas, climbing areas etc etc etc. Most catteries the cats are by themselves with just somewhere to sleep, not this place. Our cat loved it, even the smell of the food being cooked nearly made me stay for lunch.

Paws-a-While at Verdun/Hahndorf is fantastic, the woman who runs it is really kind and they even have a cottage where long-stay cats go and have rooms like at home and a secure run out amongst the garden bushes and trees. PM me if you want me to look up the phone number, but it'll be on the web on white pages I guess.
