Title: SINGAPORE STOPOVERS
Description: Hotel recommendations please
Guzzler&Sas - May 8, 2006 07:22 PM (GMT)
Hello again
We are about to book our flights this weekend (yipee!) and are planning a stopover in Singapore for a few days. Have been trying to do research on internet regarding where exactly to stay in Singapore, which location, near to which attractions etc and am finding the whole process exciting and confusing because there seem to be so many great hotels. So we thought to ask those that know!!! :P
We have 2 young children (3 and 15mths), so want to do zoos, parks, etc so need to be near that side of things - like the look of Setonsa (spelt right?) Island, but not sure. Can anyone rec a hotel, any places which are a must to see, and any other useful info.
Also, when they quote prices for twin rooms, are they like the States - two double beds - they don't seem to quote for family rooms??? We need to get a cot set up (know they will have them, but will need to ask) but just don't want to book a twin room and walk in to see 2 single beds!!!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
:)

Try Aisarooms.com found them to be cheap last year and this.
I have booked to stay at the Shangri-La as last time we were nearer the Marina side of town.
Good luck with your choice, the standards are very high in singapore I have found.

hi
we stayed at the Shangri La on a 2 night stopover,it was 100%, not a single fault
i found. :sign61: :sign61: we stayed in the tower block ,which are you staying in?
we got a call early morning to our room when we arrived, it was someone from Singapore Airlines inviting us on a trip to the zoo, i think it was free im not sure,
anyway we didnt take up the offer due to jetlag, :happy45:,apparently you visit the zoo on a night there, cause thats when the animals are out, and at their best.
the kids were very disapointed though, might i ad take a taxi down to Orchard grove or road thats where all the BIG shops are, and take plenty of money as you wont be able to resist. :bouncy:
we were that pleased with this hotel, we are going to book again when we return to Adelaide,
AND THE KIDS DIDNT MOAN ONCE!! ONLY WHEN WE LEFT!!
what a treat
enjoy your selves and have a SINGAPORE SLING
love jayne

thanks Jayne and Ali
I had looked on that website previously but was overwhelmed by the amount of hotels to pick from. Will check out the Shangri La and the Singapore Slings at Raffles will be on our to do list - that's the adult treat, night safari/zoos etc for kids!
thanks again

If you are flying with Singapore airlines why not just book everything through their Stopover scheme?: discounted hotels, transfers, tour bus and discount vouchers.

Hi
we stopped in the Raffles Plaza in August 2004. Excellent, Our daughter (age 3 at the time ) still asks when we're going back to stay there.
The origional Raffles is just over the road, gotta have a singapore sling whilst your there . We also went to the night zoo which was pretty good.
