This answer from one of my daughter's friends: Seadord Rise has a bad reputation.

All saints is a good Catholic school ,never heard any complaints and our neighbours like it . The follow on school from there is Cardijn college which we have looked at for Chloe when she gets older.

Ive not heard anything bad about Seaford Rise PRIMARY but the secondary school next door Ive heard very bad things about and after spending some time in the local library which is attached to the school Ive seen enough to be worried .

Hi Can you elaborate further on what you have heard about Seaford 6-12 School
We are currently applying for a visa and will be staying with relatives in Seaford if/when we get accepted :sign03: , so our son (14) would probably start schooling there till we get settled

This is not an observation made only from this post. However although constructive criticism can prove useful, slating a school on 'I heard' does not come under that banner.

There are many familys using these schools with no problems whatever. I wonder if it has occured to people that a private education is not an option for the majority and these negative hearsay comments serve as hurtful and depressing to those very parents and children.

How sad for the many bright and normal kids that attend these blighted by hearsay schools, we may as well just lock them up now. I`m not at all sorry if I offend, I have been very offended on many occasion with these comments. Children are nurtured by parents, learning from them the difference between right and wrong don't blame the school blame the parents.

I don't know about Cardijn College fees but Tatachilla and Woodcroft are about $6000 to $7000 a year including uniform, admin and books etc.. better start saving with 3 kids. ;)

So back to the first question... primary schools are fine, depends if you want a Catholic education. :chuckle:

Is it not EVERY parents responsibility to prvide the best for their children ??????
And i thought the freedom of speech from people who may have experiences regarding this topic would be much appreciated .If however the truth hurts or mud sticks then maybe it should be brought to the education departments attention so that they can do something about it for all our childrens benefit ! :sign53:

It goes to show that the average BRIT arriving instantly has a silver spoon in its mouth.... as if the schools in Blighty are any better. The use of :sign53: shows a real lack of education, if you read my post and had an ounce of sincerity in your bones, you may understand what I was actually saying, NOT EVERONE CAN AFFORD PRIVATE SCHOOL, salaries are not that great and options are very limited, so for those whom have no option, spare a little thought....PLEASE.!!!

I can say that I do have friends who send their children to Seaford Rise Primary and Seaford 6-12 and are very happy, the children are on par, and actually look forward to school, so in the inaugural years that must be important too, don’t you think?

I agree we all want the best for our children and yes we have freedom of speech, but we do have to think about others when slating this school or that school, it is all that some have, even for some Adelaide Brits!!! For those who are quick of the mark, maybe you would like to tell 800 or so parents that they are not doing their best for the child’s educational needs.

We are very quick to tar everyone with the same brush, if only life was so black and white.

Personally I have no interest where you send your children, I CAN AFFORD PRIVATE EDUCATION for mine, but I do have a genuine understanding for those less privileged. Even Eton, has problems from time to time; Prince Harry smoked something illegal I can recall.

My comments are not all based on hearsay , I travel on buses daily with children from all the above schools ,the local library is attached to Seaford 6-12 ,and my mother is a teacher who relief teaches at local schools.

red 1 aplogies for not replying earlier to your question but I intend to pm you at some point .

I do agree with Red 1 that as a parent you want and maybe expect the best for your children. We arrived in Adelaide 18 months ago and found the education system was at least a year behind from that experienced in England. Very easy for someone to say whinging pom, we are fortunate that we had an option and we quickly made use of that opportunity to send our children elsewhere to stretch their ability which was on a par with what was experienced in England.

It's true to say that if you cannot afford this option then it does not present itself but the symplicity of our earlier email would just state that if you can afford this option I would certainly recommend this route.
Woodcroft College has a very high standard of work ethic and amenities which was sadly lacking at Seaford Rise.

My daughter attends the Seaford Rise Primary school, has been there for almost a year now.
Academically we couldn't be happier with our daughters progress.
Recently there has been a problem in the class with one of the boys, but he has now been suspended, so hopefully when he comes back all problems would have been sorted. This has not stopped my daughter loving school or wanting to go to school.
She says she prefers Seaford Rise school to the school she went to in England.

My youngest daughter has also started the Kindy at Seaford Rise Primary which we are also pleased with and she loves going.

Kelly.
