Hi

We are having our stop over in Tokyo and wondered if anyone else has been here and can give us some advise about where to go , where to eat etc?

Hi Michelle
Rach and Daz went via Tokyo when they returned to England, they might be able to help!

Yes I know they did but they had a horrendous time so I didn't want to ask them! Sorry Rach and Daz!

Do I need to have a Visa to go to Japan?

Didn't they say there wasn't a lot of English signage? Perhaps you need a crash course in Japanese.... :o

Thats right it was us.We had a crap time as had absolutely no info on the place and thought because its tokyo airport you'd see tokyo.Wrong!
Its the equivalent of landing at gatwick for one night and thinking 'this is london?'
You get all the visa bits on the plane but after that your on your own.We found the people either just dont understand you or are not very helpful.Theres a free bus into town but theres nothing there except one small supermarket.Theres a train station but we didnt know how anything worked or where they went!
My advice is get as much info as you can before you get there as you might find something we couldnt. Also make sure your luggage is booked to pick up at your final destination from your very first check-in(qantas?) or youll end up stuck with it in tokyo!
Nice breakfast in the hotel though!

Good Luck DAZ med 66

Just thought I'd add to Daz saying that we went via Narita airport. I know there are two airports there so check which one. And you might have to fight to get your luggage checked in all the way to Adelaide but it is no fun with 4 suitcases, 2 rucksacks and 2 tired children and about 3 security checks!! People have told us it was possible so make sure you do!!!!

Yes I knew you had a bad time.

As we are only going back for a holiday the baggage won't be much of a problem, will have a suitcase each and hand luggage.

... and we are going to Narita airport. From your experience, it makes me somewhat apprehensive and feel I should check out as much as I can.

We booked through STA Travel and they were excellent and advised us that Tokyo itself wasn't worth venturing into - we just want to do a bit of shopping, eat and get our heads down ready for the next leg of the flight to the UK.

Japan airlines look pretty snazzy though, I'm looking forward to it!
