Title: Map of house prices

juliew - June 2, 2006 01:37 AM (GMT)

Hi , This is a map of Adelaide and its suburbs (sorry to anyone looking further south , but I couldnt get a map that went any further down !)
Its is colour coded to show the Median house sale price for the last quarter of 2005

Red= houses between $100,00 and $199,00
Blue = houses between $200,00 and $299,00
Yellow= houses between $300,00 and $399,00
Green = houses between $400,00 and $499,00
Orange = houses between $500,00 and $599,00
Pink = houses between $600,00 and $699,00
Purple = houses sold at $700,00+

I wouldnt go too much on the prices as they are Median prices of houses SOLD in that quater so are'nt exact but it does give a good idea where the cheaper housing is and shows the most expensive areas etc .

LoL !! Thanks to Delboy I managed to post it on the site :love29:

Its not as clear as I would like (had to scan the original )but anyone with another map should be able to work out any suburbs names that arent too clear.

Did it for someone back in the Uk to give them an idea of the suburbs .

were did you get your figures julie,?? it can be a bit miss leading For instance Macdonald park is made up of acerage blocks ,you would not get any thing under $300,000 ,same with Munno para downs.
Salisbury heights has some of the biggest houses in Adelaide, some valued over a million $$$..................... <_< mm

Hi , The info was gathered from a published article (online) by Reisa (real estate institute of S. A )

I had a look back through the lists and there were only 2 properties sold in that quarter for Macdonald park (maybe they were units or in need of renovation ?)
As I said above it is the Median prices of houses SOLD so may not be a true guide of the overall prices , But it is a little help to the folks back in the UK that have no idea how to choose a suburb .

PS I dont think that Henley Beach should be in the $300,00s as I cant find anything there for less than $500,00 + but thats where it comes in the table of figures ! ;)

Hi Mr Mover , yes Ive checked again, heres the figures ..(number of houses sold that quarter and Median house price )

Macclesfield 4 216,000
Macdonald Park 2 164,500
Magill 32 335,000

Why the fixation with Macdonald Park anyway ? :P
As I said the map was done as a guide for someone back in the UK. I remember looking at maps before we came and having no idea whatsoever how to differentiate between areas / suburbs . Price of housing is one way of doing this, it can be a generalization of an entire suburb but , in that situation you grab any info you can ;) Someone with a housing budget of $200,00 would be hard pressed to find anywhere in Unley for example .im not saying that they couldnt , but ther are other suburbs where their choices would be greater !

If I had been given this map 18 mths ago I would know that I shouldnt be looking at houses in North Adelaide , Leabrook Rosslyn Park , St Peters , Medindie etc etc , :( Simply because they are out of our price range . Its a start on eliminating suburbs / areas and helps make a difficult decisison a little easier .

Julie i put up a link for the latest REISA figures , i want to see were you are getting Your STATs from?? ,$ 164,000 would not get you a block of land in Mac Donald park, i know because i live here ON a 2 1/2 acre property valued recently at $ 380,000.
I apreciate what you are trying to do but whats the point if there are too many inaccuracies. I tried to give people an idea of Suburbs ,in the early days of ADBrits, but after many PM ,s and Emails saying they had heard Different from other people, i decided whats the point. :(
People only hear what they want too, the best way is for people to come here and find out what they are comfortable with. Any way what would i know i,ve only lived here 42 years :P .............................mm

Claire the map in general is good and a credit to julie ,But there are some inacuracies ,would hate some one to be put off an area because they don,t like the colour :D ......use in conjunction with the latest REISA figures

Hi Julie,

Excellent post. Real handy for those of us that have no idea where the different suburbs are and want to have a look at what housing is available before coming over.

Using your map in conjunction with the realestate website is making my life a lot easier.

Thanks once again.

Cheers,
Paula
