I live in aberfoyle park which is just along from flagstaff hill , flagstaff has lots of trees and parks which give it a nice feel , it has everything that you need , supermarket, post office etc, blackwood is 10-12 mins very handy for the train into the city. Marion shopping centre is 10-15 mins away, the city is about 30 mins , then you have the beach which is about 20 mins away .If you are out and about victor and McClaren Vale are not that far either. If you have children there are plenty of primary schools in the area. There are quite a few brits who live in the area and i don't think any of them have much to complain about.

Cheers travis

I have lived in Flagstaff Hill for 9 months now and i am happy here. I have 2 kids ages 3 and 7 so for them it's perfect. On the other hand my 17 yr old brother lives just around the corner from me and thinks it is boring as it is very quiet. So i guess opinions will vary depending on the age group.

I am lucky enough to live very close to the local shopping area and the primary school, doctor and dentist all of which i can highly reccommend. For me they are all within walking distance, however Flagstaff Hill covers a large area and depending on where you rent you may still find yourself having to drive to the shops etc..

My main reasons for liking it here so much are , it is so very quiet, parrots and cockatoos come and sit in the garden, it is only 10 mins to the mall and 15 for the beach, there is a lovely golf course 2 streets away from me (not that i use it), and just the area is very well kept and has a nice feel to it. My mum on the other hand who lives round the corner would complain that there are no pavements, this is the case for most of the housing areas and can be a pain when you are having a walk around with the kids and the dog and you have to walk on the road, also that it is very dark at night, i would say is common for most outer areas, because there are so many trees and very few street lights it can be very dark at night.

Bottom line, it would still be one of my first choices to buy due to the location and value for money and i am happy to try and answer any more question you might have.

We moved out here five months ago and picked Flagstaff Hill as a place to find a rental and get the boys into school.

We like it here very much and I cannot think of any other suburb I would choose over Flagstaff Hill. It is very pretty in places, close to amenities and an ideal community in which to being up a family.

We will be hopefully buying a house in here in the next six months.

Very nice in my opinion - wide roads, attractive big houses mostly, lovely large well-kept gardens, some fantastically beautiful, huge trees. Very suburban, good variety of different styles of housing. Almost like a huge country town to me. Good link into the city via the Flagstaff Hill road and then into South Road, but if you don't have a car, you might struggle ... not brilliant in terms of public transport ( no trains for instance).

There is not a problem with transport in Flagstaff Hill, there are buses to the city

the 218

Express bus the TL 1, but you have to catch this one in Aberfoyle Park at the Hub

to Marion the 618

Blackwood the 197 and 198

you can also get the train to the city from Blackwood, I use the public transport all of the time, I live in Aberfoyle Park , and the buses are all the same

And you use the same tiicket for bus and train, they last for 2 hrs, and there are parking spaces at the station too.

Hope this helps

I agree Sheila...

I am only a visitor who uses the public transport from Black Road, Flagstaff Hill. The buses in Adelaide are fantastic. I guess because public transport is so very expensive in UK I have nothing but praise for the Adelaide Metro...

http://www.adelaidemetro.com.au/routes/arc...april_2005.html

For the cost of $22.90 you can buy a Metro Multitrip ticket and this gives you ten trips. Each trip on a Multitrip ZONE ticket can be used to transfer within the two hour period after the ticket is first validated.
So - if you get on a bus to take you to the city and then change to a tram for
Glenelg - that counts as one trip. Therefore, for less than three dollars - yes about £1.22, you can travel for two hours, by bus, train or tram!

Travelling into and spending the day in the city and then adding the price of the trip back costs less than $6 (about £2.40.) Every time we go up to London from East Sussex it costs us about £12.20 each (with our senior cards!)

We love Adelaide's public transport. The buses are beautifully clean and the drivers are great. The trip from Blackwood to The City by train is such fun too with some delightul views en-route.

Yes I am a fan!! Anne XXX

Also.......Lots of information on the above website re saving money by travelling Metro AND info regarding helping the environment: (doesn't mean a great deal to us as we don't drive!)

quote: If you drive 25 kilometres every day, this will produce up to 3.1 tonnes of greenhouse gases annually, as well as other air pollutants. Help the environment by using Adelaide Metro public transport and leave the car at home!

Also, if you travel after 9am and begin your travel home before 3pm, on week days, then you can buy a 10 trip multi-trip ticket for only $12.60. That's only $1.26 for two hours of travel, as long as you keep within those times.
