Still in the process of finding out as much info as possible.
My daughter will be nearly 4 when we hopefully :sign03: arrive in SA next year.
Just trying to work out the kindy/preschool education system as she will be going to preschool in the UK for 5 afternoons a week as soon as she is 3 (for free).
I have looked at some of the FAQ's but still confused so thought I would ask you guys.
Thanks
Lea
Hi Lea.
If your daughter is already 4 when she arrives that would mean she can do up to 4 sessions at the local kindie, this is all they usually offer.
For example at our kindie they run two full day's, Tues and Wed, (which would use up your 4 sessions in one) and then they offer a Mon pm, and a Thursday am.
The cost is usually around $40 - $50 a term (I think, can't remember at the mo).
She can go to school the term after she turns 5.
Hope this is of some help.
Sunshine.
Thanks. I'm confused with the UK rules already so Aus ones was just too much! :D
Incidently we're looking at Aus from a similar perspective - 2 year adventure, hoping to stay!

Hey Lea
We live on kangaroo island so i know its slightly different to main land but similar rules....mine started kindie the term after their 3rd birthday for 1/2 day only! :sign68: then progressed each term upto three sessions (half days!) until they are four then they start school. The term before they start school however they have a transision period so they go over to the school for say an hour a week then half day then spend a full day, leading upto then go full time. Hope you understand this?.
They keep them at home for longer here, not let them grow up so fast, its good in a way i think, but when the kids have been use to uk its hard as they get bored, but good excuse to get out and spend some family time i think!.

Definately good to let them grow up slowly. My childminders kids are 9 an 12 so she is already up on those horrible Bratz toys etc etc
Also looking forward to some quality outdoor time after being stuck in the house for half the year in the UK.
Thanks
Lea
