Hi
There is a link here -
Click that lets you work out how much you would need in mb or gb per month depending on your usage. I think it worked out that about 3 hours surfing per week would use your allowance for the month at 200mb.
I know it is for BT but if you fill it in it would work out the allowance per month you would use depending on your habits. Scarey how much it adds up
Hope this helps

We are with Optus, we originally had the 200 with the optus, but it lasted around 2 weeks, so now we are 2gb for the same cost.

200mb is tiny and I think Telstra is being a bit naughty with that package - market it cheap to get people tied in on contract for 12 months then bump them to a more expensive plan or charge them a huge $150 per gb excess data fee!
Why should this plan be avoided?
It nearly always works out expensive
Very few people can use just 200mb
It's really little more than a sales gimmick so that Telstra can claim to be offering a sub-$30 broadband package.
1mb = about 10 pages on AB (without pictures) a page like the recent one on spiders in the pool came in at about half a mb on it's own.
While typing this I also had the home page of the Sydney Morning Herald open in another window - that was also just over half a mb.
I'm an extreme example, but If I didn't use a very good spam filter I'd be averaging 2mb of junk mail each day.
Most people will get through 200mb in a week easily.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but unless you are going to just use text based email and really limit your web browsing - it's gonna cost you one way or another.

http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=545700I assume that you are using bigpond as that's what I was offered by telstra when I signed up for the phone. Went with Adam ADSL2 in the end though.
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=535632dumeter would work if you only had one computer on the connection. Or load to other computers and add the numbers up??

Its not just what your using either, you have got to take into account your anti virus updates and all your software checking and downloading updates.
