has anybody had to sit an english proficiency test !, my wife ( who is english , only speaks english, and lived in england all her life.)) is panicking , god knows why, or i,m i wrong and will have to eat humble pie again. sven

If English is your native language, or if English was the language in which you were taught at school or in further education you should not need to sit the test.

Tell her that we didn't have to sit the test and I'm Welsh and Roy's Irish! :lol:
Like Fred has said if you are UK citizen and have lived here for your school life you are a native english speaker and therefore don't have to prove your English capabilities.

Sorry can't write in Welsh!! Both my grandparents were welsh though so I picked up a few words.
The English Test is mainly for the Asians that apply - you won't even be asked to sit one!

Pommygirl is right, if you are a national of an english speaking nation then it is assumed you speak english.

I had to pass it. But I'm a native russian. English is my second language. The test is easy for those, who are native speakers, anyway. :D
