Title: Reynella East Schools

Lee4444 - September 25, 2006 01:50 AM (GMT)
Hi,
Haven't been on for a while, we arrived in adelaide on 8th Sept and have been so busy.

Have been staying with friends in Hallett Cove, but are moving to Reynella on Weds 27th sept.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of Reynella East Primary and High as we have 4 kids and that's probably where they will go?

Any information gratefully received, thanks in advance.

Our daughter was there for years 8 and 9 (high school) and was incredibly unhappy. She was always coming up with ridiculous excuses for not going to school or pretending to be unwell. We moved her at the beginning of the year and she's a lot happier now and achieving much better results. Someone else I know is thinking of moving their daughter because they're not happy with the level of education she's receiving (level of teaching) and the lack of discipline in some classes.

My kids go to Reynella East primary....and up to a couple of weeks ago, Hannah was at the High school.

Hannah has left school, absolutely nothing to do with the High school, in actual fact I prefer Reynella High to Hallett Cove R-12, which Hannah attended from November to June. They had much more to offer her in terms of subject choice etc...I prefered the 'feel' of the school....Hannah struggled with the transistion from school in england to here in australia....and is now working over the summer and hopefully going to TAFE full-time after XMAS...

anyway back to the question about the schools...

I am also happy with the Primary....i was concerned about moving them from Hallett Cove East as they had settled so well there and it is a lovely school. But with the move to Happy Valley, i needed them to be 'local'. They have settled really well, both have very good teachers....Chris was put in the wrong class at first and within a day they noticed it wasn't the right class and moved him. He was way above the kids in his class. Abbie is doing really well.....i did have some minor concerns with her...mainly she was missing her friends in hallett cove, but her teacher phoned me and took the time out for a long chat...and reassured me that Abbie was fine.

When i first approached the school about them going there, they were so helpful, had a good guided tour....etc...

I'm happy but do understand that not every school suits all....e.g. I know that people on here are really happy with Hallett Cove R-12, I wasn't....so each to their own..

Sorry Lin don't know the answer to your question but just want to say congratulations on getting to OZ. Hope you are all fine. Have been thinking about you all after your last post about your leaving party. Hope you are all settling in and look for ward to your first post "we have arrived" telling us all about it.

Congrats again and hope you get all the info you need about schools.

Our daughter starts at the High School after the christmas holidays and i had to drop her there the other week for a transition day. All i can say is that I got a really good vibe about the school and she knows of several kids already there who are more than happy. i also know of a family who's son went to the Hub and was bullied very badly. They moved him to reynella and he's doing very well.

Like Lorraine says it really is a very individual thing. Give the schools a call and arrange to have a look around.

Sally :)
