Title: One-Way insurance?
Description: Any recommendations?

Hi All

Bit of a boring subject  , but could do with some advice. We are looking into insurance for our validation trip this December and are wondering how to go about getting insurance for our final, one-way trip. The policies we are looking at for the holiday need to start and end in the UK, so no good for final trip.

If you have already moved to Adelaide, how did you arrange insurance and who did you find good/competitive?

Any other insurance related advice gratefully received too :D

Cheers

We used the post office for one-way & were covered for 17 days :D

We used "insure and go" online. We got a 12 month policy that allowed us 30 days anywhere in the world - we got it for a year as we had to validate and knew we were coming back shortly afterwards. Can't remember how much it was exactly - of the order of 80 quid for the 4 of us, but don't quote me. :P

Hi

I used insure and go and booked on line, for one way trip last year. Can't remember exactly, but it was really cheap- something like 10 pounds.

Great thanks guys. The 30 day rule is a bit of a bummer as our validation trip this year is 30 days.... blast! Still, thanks for the info.

We used Go Walkabout.

We had 2 1/2 weeks in Florida then a week in Oz before we arrived in Adelaide and it still covered us for another week or so.

Have a look on the website or call them the chap you runs it is called Lawrence and is very friendly.

Just beware that the limits on personal belongings aren't that high on many policies - especially if you have a couple of high value electrical items (camera, camcorder, laptop etc).

When we got our insurance we needed to insure 2 laptops and camera equipment.

Go Walkabout were able to do this for me and were alot cheaper than other quotes I had.

I think most policies only have a £300 but they had £500 as standard for personal items.
