Title: Anyone done the packing themselves?

Steve Bannister - July 30, 2004 03:48 PM (GMT)
This is the second option for bringing the price our our quote down.

So, has anyone done the packing themselves? How much did you save? What was the company? Do they still do door to door?

So many questions, but we're getting that close, I need to know.

Thanks,

Steve.

Hi
Just browsing through and spotted this one. We used Upakweship and it turned out very good. The stuff arrived last week after 8 weeks in transit and guys helped unload.
In the UK myself and a couple of mates loaded the 40' container and it was a hard 4 hour slog. 4 bed detached contents and a double garage. Total cost about 4000. Would recomend if you are fit

Hi Syd
I reckon you were done! We paid £4210 to Bishops Move to have a 40ft container packed for us! Took 3-4 guys 3 days.

Mind you it was only 3/4 full so if yours was completely full that would make a difference. It was all the furniture and 200+ boxes of 'stuff'.

...beg your pardon, HOward says I've got that figure wrong and it was £3600 ish.

Phoned upakweship this morning. Spoke to a nice guy and he said he would confirm it all on Monday, but a 40' container to pick up from Folkstone and then Hornchurch would be about £4000. (£2000 each)

We pack ourselves, get the container for 3 hours each and then it's off to Adelaide! Only problem is, it has to be on the same day.

Container takes up about 4-5 terraced houses so make sure there's plenty of room or we'll annoy the neighbours!

AQIS is $650 on top and it includes delivery the other end.

Going to have a chat with Eve tonight when she comes home. She did really want someone else to do the packing, but saving £1000 might just sway her!

Tell me what you think, Jules.
