Title: Drive-in Movies

Snappy - February 9, 2004 02:37 PM (GMT)
My hubbie has asked me to post this question as whilst he was doing the year travelling thing in oz he used to go to the drive in movies. He can't remember ever going to one in Adelaide and wanted to know is there such a thing in the area?

Hi Sasha,

They have a drive-in movies at Jepps Cross on the main north road. We went during the summer break to watch Peter Pan with the kids, and really enjoyed it.

They usually have a kids film first and then a general film, apparently the kids are supposed to fall asleep.

You tune your radio in to get stereo sound.

There is also another one at the botanical gardens but we haven't been to that one yet.

Geopps Cross is the ONLY drive-in movie place as far as I know as Modbury has shut and the others are just temp open cinemas. We live up the hill from it and have never been YET. They do have a Sunday morning market there although it is very australian and not for the poshe types :P

Having watched Rove live the drive-ins in Melbourne/Sydney are very popular but then there are more people to use them.
