Hi All,

Just been up to Dundee Wildlife Park on Sunday. There's a choice in Murray Bridge of there or Monarto. Monarto is move bus safari where you can see Rhinos and Zebras etc which we've been lucky enough to see loads of at our old local safari park in UK so we chose Dundee's.

It's $24 for a family ticket. There's a Croc Show at about 2pm each day. Next door is Dundee Diner - buffet style, eat as much as you want for $8 per adult and also next door to that is Puzzle World, or may be is it Puzzle Land?

We thoroughly enjoyed it .. buy a bag of Roo food, and a bag of bird food and then you can hand feed emus, roos, wallabys, cockatoos, rosellas etc etc. Loads to see - probably better with kids under 10 may be? We had a pass out to get some lunch next door and came back for the croc show ... that was the highlight of the day. My youngest son is completely fearless and had a 7 ft python wrapped round his neck and then next minute holding Dolly the crocodile! I much prefered holding the black cockatoos - the display went on for as long as needed, until everyone had had their chance to hold, touch etc.

There's also bats, wombats, herons, curlews, tortoises etc so fills up a day, including the drive quite easily!

Have fun!

We went there last week - and I must admit I wasn't expecting much. But I'm glad to say that I was wrong :). We missed all the shows and stuff, but got to see the big (not big by Australia Zoo standards...) salty basking in the afternoon sun, lots of furry and bouncy things and spent a good half an hour covered in parrots whislt hand feeding them in the aviary. They are apparently getting a koala soon...

Not quite sure how the buffalo thing fitted into the whole scheme, and the emu next to it was not very good at pecking the food out of your hand  . But the place is well laid out and the animals seem pretty happy.

From the webiste, I thought it was going to be a restaurant with a animal area tacked onto it. It isn't like that and you can spend a couple of hours walking round. Ironically, when we came out at just after 4, the restaurant wasn't open (lunch till 2pm; dinner from 6pm). So take note of this if you're planning on making a day of it. :)

Hi
Just got back from a fantastic weekend in Mannum. Visited Dundees today - really enjoyed it. Our son loved feeding the birds, donkey, wallabies, etc. The birds in particular were really tame and loved their seed. The show at 2pm (think it's weekends, school holiday, public holidays only) was great - everyone got a chance to hold a crocodile, black cockatoo and two different snakes - very much at your own pace with the chance to take pics. Fantastic value for money - $10 adult, $7 kids (or $30 for two adults/2 kids).
Few mins away from Murray Bridge which is also handy for lunch if you're just after a sandwich!
Great day there.
Oh - and we were lucky enough to see the croc being fed - Callum now knows that crocs eat chickens complete with feathers on (and legs, head, etc!!!)
He loved the whole day though!
Really, really friendly staff also.
Susan
P.S. If you're on a reccie from the UK it's only an hours drive along the freeway from Adelaide and a great opportunity to see the River Murray.
