Wasn't really my cup of tea but the wife and kids enjoyed it, so each to their own.
Family ticket was I think $58 2 adults 3 children.
Personally I don't think there was a great deal there for the size of the park but at least that gave the animals plenty of room :D
To give you some idea of the size of the place, they said the Lion enclosure was big enough to fit Adelaide zoo in with room to spare :o
I reckon you could easily do Monartos and Dundee's http://www.dundeeshotel.com.au/ in the same day.
Dundee's is right next to Puzzle park so maybe do both of them in a day.
There is a thread in this section on Dundee's.
Heres a few pictures of my trip to Monarto.

I agree, I didnt think it was up to much either!!

They must use that same line in the Lions Den alllll the time, as they said that to us to!!!

I was disappointed as thought Australia could offer something much better!! I mean it's not that they are short of the land to build a decent bloody Zoo??

Zoos are good for conservation and publicity about the problems many rare species are facing in the wild, they allow people to see animals that they would only ever see on television otherwise. Bit liike Big Brother really, not natural and not much fun if you're stuck in there too long, hence Monarto animal park.

Here you get to see animals in a much more natural environment, living with other speicies they cancohabit and interact with happily, allowing them room to develope family groups, graze for food more naturally, you really can't just chuck a couple of live barbary goats in to the cheetah enclosure for their food, thatwould be mean and messy!

How much more exciting and satisfying is it to see real wildlife living wild?More than you would see on an expensive safari to Kenya when the lions are dots on the horizon and the giraffes don't peer in the bus windows at you or eat from your hand tht's for sure.

I like Monarto. it's exactly what it says on the brochure, there's not loads of animals but they're always adding new environment enrichments for both the animals and the visitors, next yr they hope to have a huge new Chimpanzee enclosure,I can' wait!
