hi kev, we actually asked for christie downs, after a bit of research from others that have stayed there, it seemed to be the better one out of all the other places! (dont quote me on that!)
dont know if we have got it yet though, should hear tomorrow they said!

Hi Kev and Deb
When we arrived in Adelaide we used the meet and greet service and they put us on Christopher Road, Christie Downs. We managed to stay there for 4 days! The accomodation was clean but very basic. It certainly served its purpose until we found something else. The area was okay and Christies beach is really lovely. There is also a big shopping centre nearby called Colonades which has a food hall and lots of shops.
We are now in Coromandel Valley in a furnished rental until next week when we move to a house that we have bought in Happy Valley. Personally I prefer the happy valley/aberfoyle park/flagstaff hill area but others may disagree, I dont know.
Which road have they put you on in Christie Downs?

Hiya
we stayed in Christie Downs - 25 justin Cres - for 11 weeks (March - June) this year.
Friends of ours stayed next door in 23, which is slightly 'nicer'.
Personally I think many people expect too much of the OAAccom. You're paying very cheap rent, with everything included. Yes it's basic, but its a start.
You've got the train station nearby, & so direct access to city etc. Shopping centre, 2 lovely beaches etc.
If you have any ??s feel free to email/pm me or post here.
AdUk - just curious, but are you the people from Yorkshire that Dennis & Rene picked up??

Kev and Deb!
Christie Downs is down the southern subs of Adelaide. You'll be close to the beach . .. mile or two away . . . and there are shops at Christie's Beach ( obviously down toward the beach!) and Noarlunga Shopping Centre, one of the main shopping centres servicing Adelaide. It has heaps of parking, once you get wheels, and you'll find 99.9% of your shopping goodies in Noarlunga S.C. . . two or three levels of shops, having dozens of stores on each level.
Christie Downs and Christie's Beach area was built in the 1960's / 70's and you'll find lots of English people living around that spot that migrated on 10 pounds to Australia at the time. They'll mostly be getting on in age now, but don't be surprised if a 55 or 65 yr old Yorkshireman stands behind you in the queue at the checkout and says which part of Yorkshire are you from??
You'll be with friends, mate.
There are nice places going up near the beach at Seaford, too, just 3 or 4 miles further down the coast, if you want to look for new housing, once you're settled in.
Good luck with the trip

Yes we are the couple from Yorkshire who Dennis & Rene picked up! I'll bet he said we were being too fussy didnt he because we didnt like the accomodation! Ha Ha!
The reason we found a rental so soon after arriving was because the school we wanted the kids to go to was in Flagstaff Hill so it was too much of a hike every day back and forth. We also have friends living in that area so we wanted to be a bit closer to them.
How are Dennis and Rene I wonder, do you see them?
Lindsey.

My aunt and uncle lived in Christie Downs when they first arrived in Adelaide 21 years ago.
They now live in Seaford Meadows.
Christies Beach is gorgeous. All the shopping areas mentioned above are really nice too.
Kelly.

We also stayed at 25 Justin Crescent over 19 months ago, like I have already said in past threads it saved us a fortune and ok it's by no means a palace but at the end of the day it was cheap and clean, and the beaches that end are some of the best !
We now live in Flagstaff Hill and are very settled,
Juls :thumbs up:
