Title: One for Andy?
Description: Computer problem
Paul & Wendy - February 9, 2007 01:25 PM (GMT)
Andy, or anyone else who can help,
Over the last week, I have been unable to log on at home. ( currently using work pc).
Although I can get the intro page with the 15 seconds wait bit, when you try and connect to the main site, all you get is "waiting for s2.invision.com". After a while, the pc advises that the connection was reset due to one of the following:
Check computers network connection
Site temporarily unavailable or too busy
If computer protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure firefox is permitted to access web
I can access every other website or forum - only adbtits appears to be affected.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks, Paul

Hiya
I had a similair problem a while ago and the problem was down to the web proxy.
I contacted my ISP and they gave me their proxy settings.

Hi
I have had this problem on 3 occasions with this site. I contacted my provider who told me they could find no explanation for it. On each occasion the site has been accessible again after a few days.
Very bizzare!
Sorry not very helpful but I understand your frustration!

Aye, me too, slow to load or not at all using IE.
Give
Firefox a try - no such probs unless modem needs resetting. :)

I'll second using Firefox.
Also- use a free program called "Crap Cleaner" (it does what is says on the box!)
It clears out caches/historys and all sorts of stuff that bungs up ya poota.
I've used it almost daily for a couple of years now.
One word of warning though - don't fiddle with the setting in Crap Cleaner unless you know what you are doing.
Have a look here............

15 seconds, so i guess you're trying to come in using adelaidebrits.tk ?
try using this instead
http://s2.invisionfree.com/Adelaidebrits/ and put it in your favs.
As Andy suggested delete your cookies and temp internet files, this should be done at least once a week to keep things sweet in my opinion.
you will probably find that fire fox will work at first, but thats just because it wont be using your Internet explorer cookies.
If you never clean out your cookies in FF it will end up just the same as I.E.
so try having a clean out and see how you go ;)

I'll second CCleaner. Use it all the time.

Also might be worth getting CC to check your registry files, especially if you've uninstalled anything - some files always seem to get left behind and start to junk up the place after a while. Free trial game downloads are a bugger for it. CC lets you back up the registry before you delete anything, so you can always restore in case anything goes pear shaped ;)

I agree with Marco and Bubble BUT.........
Don't go deleting anything from the registry if you're not sure what you're doing or where you're saving the registry back up to.

I've got an alternative prob perhaps someone can help with.
We got our broadband modem a couple of weeks ago (Optus) and do you think we can get the damn thing to work? Rick's no fool with puters but he has tried and tried, and even the techie at Optus couldn't help after running through the install with him. In the end they basically said I need a new puter - mine's a year old!
Looks like I am stuck on a two year contract now paying $50 a month for something I cannot use.
Oh well at least I am getting my dial up at a cheap rate now.

The tech is talking out of what he should be sitting on...
Q's
How is the PC connected to the modem (usb? ethernet?)
Click on your start button then on 'Run' and type the following exactly (or cut and paste):
ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt
Click OK
The PC will whir a bit and a black box will appear briefly on your screen.
Go into My Computer and look at your C: drive - you should see a file called ipconfig.txt (or just ipconfig - depending on the way your machine is set up). Double click on this and it should open in notepad. copy the text into a pm for me and we'll see if it's something straightforward.
