Title: site work - chippies

My husband is a chippie and wants to know if Australian building sites use 110v as they do in England or 240v. Do you need a licence to work as a chippie or can you get a job on experience alone?

240 volts are used on all job sites.
To operate a sub contractor you will need a licence but if you get a job with a licence builder you can work under his/her licence.

Hi

You also have to get all the power tools tagged and checked every 3 months to say they are in good working order.

I don't know if you get checked upon to make sure they've been tested though.

If he's got a hinge jig make sure he brings it, you can't get them here in SA. Someone offered Steve big money for his. They'd never seen one before.

Jo
