Description: we need help with everything

hayhay - February 25, 2007 04:32 PM (GMT)
hello there to everyone who reads this
right the thing is me, my husband and 2 boys really want to emigrate to aus
but we dont know where to start, we have been told to get the visa we both need to go back to college and get qualifications or we wont get the visa but when we filled the form out we needed 120 points and we only got 130 so its not much over do you think that matters?

i dont think we can get any more points than that unless we stay over here for longer and get more in the job ex

the other thing is all these agents oh my god there everywere how on earth do you know who to choose they all offer different deals mainly come with us and if we cant get you the visa we refund half the cost, but i dont even know how much it costs when we ask they just say they will tell us at a later date which i dont like at all

has anyone got any advice for us as i have been reading your posts and you all seem to have your head screwed on and you all get over to aus

thanks in advance for any help

keep on smiling :sign68:

HayHay,

I completed an online form and came out with a lower score than required for the visa. I was about to give up on the dream but friends gave me details of a migration agent and advised me to speak to him. The initial telephone advice was free but I had to go and see him to discuss all my qualifications and certificates and see how they translated to points.
I was glad I did as it turned out I had enough points to proceed. The cost will vary but if you use an agent you are talking two to three thousand all in. You can do a lot yourself but it will take longer.
There is a lot of information on the internet but I found it easier using an agent.
If you want details of our agent PM me and I will send to you.

Regards,

Ken.

Hi HayHay

We used Go Matilda. Very good service and they will give you a free initial consulation to advise which visa you could apply for.

Just make sure whoever you go with are registered agents :D

I have not heard of any one refunding if unsuccessfull.
The agent only really points you in the right direction and knows what is needed on the forms, they do not fill the forms in for you, they advise what to put on the sheet and what not to put............ for a fee of around £1800 in some cases plus VAT
If you fail to get a visa, i do not see how the agent can be blamed, so do not see how they will then refund....... unless of course they charge 4K and give you 2K back if it all goes wrong, ummmmmmmmmm but then would keep the whole 4K if you got in!

we got our initial consultation with AMA http://www.australiamigrate.co.uk/

They advised us to try for TRA on our own. which i thought was honest.

We're using 1st Contact (who we had a free initial consultation with before signing up). If we are unsuccessful in getting our visa they will refund us their fee.

We wouldn't of course be refunded with the visa application fee or cost of meds/police checks, only the money we are paying the agent.

Hayhay, it does all seem overwhelming at first. You will be surprised how much clearer things become once you've spoken to some agents, done some more research and become addicted to the yellow screen...

Shout if we can be of any help.

they do not fill the forms in for you,

Ours did - we did not fill one form in just got sent the completed form to check and sign. Think this depends on your agent.

hi hayhay,
like becks and dan we are using 1st contact we went with them because they will refund there fee if we don't get it , but as they have been soooooo positive and helpful with everything WE ARE gonna get our visa!! ( positive thinking all the way!! :yeehah: ) no matter how stupid our questions have been they have answered them without making us feel like 5 year olds. this site has also been very helpful as well as addictive .
good luck with whatever you decide. :sign03:

We would highly recommend Darrell or Lance at Thinking Australia www.thinking australia.com. Free initial consultation and no bullsh*t answers. They were the most helpful of all the agents we contacted and spoke to us several times while we were dithering whether to go for it or not.

Hi Hayhay

Our agency is Overseas Emigration in Edinburgh, been very helpful, quite expensive I thought but we did get 3 prices & they were all about the same £1700 + VAT - you can get cheaper :)

The TRA bit is the time consuming part, compiling all the supporting documents / references to prove your skill, this IMO was well worth the money. The rest has been less difficult...............now we are just waiting.

The only bad thing I am finding now is that I am trying to 'pick their brains' about anything & everything but guess what they have gone very quiet :sigh: I get more help / advise from everyone on this forum (esp Lisa) than the agency - hey Lisa perhaps you should change your line of work when you arrive in Adelaide :chuckle:

What-ever you decide good luck, we are all here to help

Angela

We used Overseas Emigration in Edinburgh and found them very good. They didn't fill in the papaer work but definitely pointed out where we could enhance our answers to get the result. The TRA was a pain and I don't think I would have given anywhere near enough information to have passed on my own. It IS expensive but I htought it was definitely worth it - they took SOME of the stress away

Good Luck :P

I'd say the best place to start with is www.immi.gov.au

Have a good read through Booklet 6. After you've done that - THEN speak to an agent. It pays to have some background knowledge first.

We are using Global Visas and I am pretty sure that without them we would really have struggled, especially with the TRA which needed to be soooo detailed, they made sure that we had given enough information (believe me it was a dissertation :loopy: ). They also completed our visa forms (apart from the personal stuff) and we signed them.

Dawn :D

lawsys - February 26, 2007 09:31 PM (GMT)
:chuckle: HI, we used 4 corners and they were excellent. Had a free meet with them first to see if we were able to go for it then they guided us through every step. Truely believe we would not have got TRA without them. They offer that if you get refused first time round for any reason other than medicals they will resubmit new application for free.
Anyway good luck with it all.
