just wanted to follow on from debsonline thread...

I looked into this today and the school card is issued on a scale of dependant children to income...its assessed on your income from the previous tax year.

As many of us arrive part of the way through the tax year, the overall family income for the year is often low. However it does say on the form foreign income as well, but according to the school card helpline, this is income that has been declared on your tax return for that year...i.e. foreign income earned whilst in australia...

With some of us having a few kids at school, it could save you a few hundred dollars and with kids at high school, even more....there is a form for migrants...

You can apply for the school card up till Nov i think it is so it might be worht you trying for it. It wont do you any harm if you get it its a bonus if not then you haven't lost anything
