Hi guys and Gals,
This is from the horses mouth.....she works at the rego Office at Marion!

I went to see what I needed to get my licence upgraded to a Multi Combination (B Double & Road Trains etc) 1 person I spoke to said I can just go for a MC test as I already have my HC, but a supervisor was listening and asked how I got my HC, I explained I had it on my UK licence(HGV1) and they gave me my HC when I swapped over to an Aussie licence, she said this was a mistake made in the system and I should have never been given it, so they have suspended my HC until they have completed their investigations in to the matter.

All they are allowed to change over is car and motorcycle.

Her argument is "If I had a crash the buck would fall at the Rego Office," the manager came over and she was happy for me to have the HC as I would have to take a test for MC, but "the horse" said I shouldnt have it and went to the managers manager, so they are going to give me a ring and let me know what is going on.

So just be warned if you have started a job and had your licence changed over with out taking a test for HC, dont have a crash or go for your MC.

This just goes to prove the system in Australia doesnt know wether its coming or going.........and this is the Licensing Authority at Transport SA!

I hope this makes thing clearer and stops any confusion.

Might be worth putting this in the FAQ section.

Regards,
Paul

Hi Guys,
Theyve agreed to let me do my Multi Combination licence, just got the phone call this morning.

The red tape in this country sucks, rules when it suits and all that.

Paul

No, they said I'll have to take a test for MC anyway, so they are happy to let me have the HC licence, and just do the MC test. They even gave me an open ended section 80, this is a permit to learn to drive anything bigger than a car, they are supposed to be valid for 30 days, but because of the confusion they said I can take as long as I need..........happy days!! :cool shake:

Paul
