I noticed a couple of prescription questions on the forum and just wondered if any of you guys out in Oz are type 1 diabetes and if so, what is your experience of the management of this in Oz?

My OH has been type 1 for a few years and has it under quite good control with regular visits to the diabetes clinic, eye checks etc; I presume that it would be a similar thing over there?

Hi ,

we moved out to SA in Nov 05 and some 9 months later was diagnosed with type 2 .. anyway I am a therapist and the health service is extremely well set up for diabetics with plenty of resources - nursing teams endocrinlogy etc etc, so dont worry about it to much .... Deanx. :)

Hi

Would advise you to join diabetes sa. You can then purchase all your supplies at a discounted rate. They also provide support and information. They have a web site www.diabetessa.com.au

A lot of you won't remember Pickled Possum who was a regular and mod on here for a long time. She was diabetic and made some useful posts which are now in either FAQ or Links (can't remember which offhand...) so worth checking that out.
