Printing in Adelaide pays Crap money.
I was a print Engineer in the UK , I applied for a few positions over here and found I would be earning the same as I was earning in 1990 in the UK.
I'm currently re training as a building worker.

Paul the spark - March 6, 2007 03:00 AM (GMT)
Paul - Electrician. Own business here since September picked up quite quickly and now busy. Net income comparable to UK but wholesaler portion of cost is higher here so you have to do a little extra each week to earn about the same. Eg a £1000 job in the UK would net you £650 whereas a $1000 is netting $500 before tax.
Me - Sex Chat Line Operator (Not really, housewife but I have thought about it they make a fortune! )
Jo :D

Hi
Have noticed that there don't seem to be many from the building trade on here. My husband's one concern is that he won't find work within the building trade. Does anyone know what this is like. I would rather have the brutal truth now before wasting any more money. Would hate to get over there and have to come back with tails between our legs.
Thanks,
Carla

Foster Clan - March 12, 2007 11:54 AM (GMT)
Me - Been working for TAFE for the past 12 months as a HPI (hourly paid instructor) running computer classes and keyboard classes (love it). Telephoned TAFE to find out if there were any vacancies, was put through to the right person I guess as they were currently recruiting. Suits my situation at the moment as can work evening classes so hubby can look after the kids.
Hubby - Came here as a nurse, lasted 4 months. Now working in Medical Sales which he did in the UK. He registered with a recruitment agency and it was the first interview they sent him on. Salary in $ is what he was earning in £, ie he was earning more than double in the UK so he has to work weekends as an agency nurse. (this is not a complaint by the way just a fact)
