God , i bet your excited. Nervous everything :loopy:

Sorry ive no idea about the area ! But at least youve got a place .

Weve both said that if were lucky to get one we'll use it , no matter what. I know a lot of people have slated oaa but think of the money you can save whilst in it. We just think they cant be any worse than some Greek studio appts that we stayed in before kids!
Where abouts in leeds are you from?
I lived there for 4 years when working in the Bondstreet Centre,22 year ago !!

Hi

Yes we do feel lucky and hope to be able to stay for quite a while. It's a base and so cheap! Know what you mean about Greek apartments.

We lived in Lawnswood, near Headingley.

Carol I think Claresiz (sp) stayed in Oaklands Park.

Lea

Was in one of the FAQ threads about OAA - read it yesterday :P

CONGRATULATIONS Carol, Rob & Family. Its great to hear you have got OAA

We hope to apply for this. Nervous but like you its a base. Also thinking along the same lines of Bev, an appt, self catering on the Costa xxxx - can't be more basic than that

Worthy applying for anyway I am a little worried about the kids though, so will be watching you posts with interest as you have a young one about Thomas' age :)

The only thing REALLY worrying me is they leave it tight before your flights! I noticed you go on the 16th - out of interest what was plan no2 if you did not get it ?

Good luck

Angela

Can't comment on oaa, but Oaklands Park is a good spot, only 5 mins away from Marion, beach, us!
See you soon,
Denise :sign60:

Yes, a few have stayed there - but it doesn't seem to have reached our FAQ yet so we'll move this one over in time!

Candice stayed in a house in Oaklands Park, I saw that one - it was basic but clean and the area is fine. A short walk from the Park itself to keep the kids amused at the end of a long day of trudging round all the things you have to do.

Claresiz also stayed there as mentioned above, I did not visit them in that one but understand it was a smaller unit, so there is more than one OAA place in Oaklands Park.

But yes, you've drawn the long straw and you should be fine there!

We stayed at 22 Doreen Street, if that's any help. It had three big bedrooms, ample kitchen and living room, ok bathroom (bit grim, but everything we needed), big back yard, and was one of the few (I was told) with a washing machine!

We felt really lucky to get it, but on the day we arrived, were really tired and didn't expect it would be quite so basic! Kids appalled there was no television; I hated the dated suite and I would have quite cheerfully gone back to my home in the UK there and then! :sigh:

Luckily that only lasted until the next morning, and I have never wanted to go back since!

Have a great flight, and, well, good luck!
:bouncy: Caroline.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I'm getting quite excited now, seems we have got a good place for a base.

Looking forward to seeing you and your family Denise - 2 weeks tomorrow - can't wait.

Looking forward to meeting some of you others too.

See you all soon

Hi all

Great news about the OAA - it does sound like a good base and not a bad location.

Two weeks to go - you must be so excited.

Best wishes

We're moving to Oaklands Park on Tuesday, though its a priavte rental, OH has seen it, says the area seems nice, 5 mins to the beach and i'm told 20 mins to the city, so pretty central.
Just to be in SA will be excellent, and it's only a 6 months lease so we can work out from there where we want to be long term,
The very best of luck to you all, the next 2 weeks will fly :)
